Kessel's time was done. Doesnt play defense and isn't buying into the system anymore and these past 2 years, a lot of his production came on the pp. Tanev is more important than Hagelin, and no GM ever was keeping MAF over Murray.

Exactly. And it’s not like fleury has been lighting it up this year either. People are quick to forget how bad fleury was from 2010-2014 in the playoffs. I still have nightmares of some of the goals he allowed
Ok
@gopenssss I’m not going to bash you because this is your first post (with your first account I hope) and your favourite team in Montreal...really?
I’ll agree with this post only in hindsight. HBK was instrumental in winning the 2016 SC. We can thank Malkin’s injury for prompting HCMS to put it together. Fleury didn’t even play for most of that cup run.
In 2017, HBK didn’t play together outside of a couple games at the beginning of the season. The magic was gone. Fleury however took over and won us a couple series before Murray came back from injury.
Since HBK/MAF left Pittsburgh, all but Bonino have regressed.
Hagelin continues to get older/slower/less productive for our rival WSH. If playing for WSH isn’t regressing, what is?
Bonino is the only one who is still playing well for NSH.
Kessel has no defense and was dragging Geno down. Look what happened this year when Geno didn’t have Phil riding shotgun. Geno exploded in a great rebound year, and Phil couldn’t get an even strength point.
Fleury has that one magical run with VGK right off the bat, but is now old/expensive/and will retire soon a and go to the HOF.
There is zero reason to desire any of them back in Pittsburgh, unless it’s in 2026-27 to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of those cups.
