Kessel's time was done. Doesnt play defense and isn't buying into the system anymore and these past 2 years, a lot of his production came on the pp. Tanev is more important than Hagelin, and no GM ever was keeping MAF over Murray.

Exactly. And it’s not like fleury has been lighting it up this year either. People are quick to forget how bad fleury was from 2010-2014 in the playoffs. I still have nightmares of some of the goals he allowed

Majority of these fans are very delusional. The fans saying they want fleury back, are also the ones who wanted him gone and murray to play over him. All I remember is so many fans complaining how Fleury sucked and Murray needed to play more. Now its Murray needs to sit and Jarry needs to play. Never satisfied

Do I get bonus homer point for wanting Jarry to play over Fleury instead of Murray?

Ok @gopenssss I’m not going to bash you because this is your first post (with your first account I hope) and your favourite team in Montreal...really?
I’ll agree with this post only in hindsight. HBK was instrumental in winning the 2016 SC. We can thank Malkin’s injury for prompting HCMS to put it together. Fleury didn’t even play for most of that cup run.
In 2017, HBK didn’t play together outside of a couple games at the beginning of the season. The magic was gone. Fleury however took over and won us a couple series before Murray came back from injury.
Since HBK/MAF left Pittsburgh, all but Bonino have regressed.
Hagelin continues to get older/slower/less productive for our rival WSH. If playing for WSH isn’t regressing, what is?
Bonino is the only one who is still playing well for NSH.
Kessel has no defense and was dragging Geno down. Look what happened this year when Geno didn’t have Phil riding shotgun. Geno exploded in a great rebound year, and Phil couldn’t get an even strength point.
Fleury has that one magical run with VGK right off the bat, but is now old/expensive/and will retire soon a and go to the HOF.
There is zero reason to desire any of them back in Pittsburgh, unless it’s in 2026-27 to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of those cups.

Fans have a tendency to cheer for the underdog. They loved Fleury then they hated Fleury and loved Murray(2016) then Murray won the cup and became the starter and they hated Murray and loved fleury. Then Murray got injured and fleury started and everybody loved that till he struggled in the ECF against the Senators. Then Murray went back in and won the cup.(2017) Fleury goes to Vegas which was and is the smart choice. Murray struggles a bit and is injured alot so everybody hates Murray and loves DeSmith.(2018) Then Jarry comes up and has his magical all star run and everyone loves him, hates Murray, and forgets DeSmith is in WBS. (2019) Then Murray and Jarry struggle simultaneously right before the pause and no one can decide who to trade in their ACGMs(2020).

Wait Phil doesn’t have an even strength point this year? His game has really regressed.

I sense sarcasm. but seriously his game fell off a cliff this year. 14 G(5 EV), 24 A(16 EV), His PT. total was the lowest it had ever been since 2007-08--his second year in the league. His Sh% went down from 12-13% to 9%, not to mention a -21. when I heard some guys say they thought he would have a great year with going where he wanted to and having Tocchet, I just knew that wasn't going to be right.
He was almost a point a game player in PIT, and just dropped off majorly. check the stats.

That wasnt his fault. We had Bylsma and Johnston for god sake behind the bench. He has been good this season. Only reason for vegas success

Do you remember some of those goals he let in? He held us back from another 2 potential championships. He also had a .905% this year. Not exactly lighting it up

Fans should not be divided and only root for 1 player and bash a guy challenging him for a starting spot. Pens fans have been nonstop for years now about whoever is in net. Way too many people cry and complain and never satisfied. You shouldn't go from loving a player, to all of a sudden hating him and wanted him gone, because hes struggling and someone else is performing. Makes absolutely no sense. People wanted Fleury gone for years, and now that hes gone, those same people are crying for him to come back and for Murray to be gone

Completely disagree. Fleury was awful during the playoffs. Murray will be fine

I get headaches from all the bashing Murray gets lol. I do have a feeling though that it feels like the team plays better with Jarry in the net. Not saying the team prefers Jarry, it seems like Murray deals with more odd man rushes, 5 on 3 pp's, and Jack Johnson own goals

HAVE YOU SEEN MURRAY THIS SEASON? FLEURY WAS AWFUL FROM 2010-2014 AFTER THAT HE WENT BACK TO HIS ELITE SELF

Murray struggled this season but so did fleury lol. They both had underwhelming numbers. And last year Murray’s stats were much better than fleury’s. He had a .919 save percentage last year. Nothing wrong with that

I’ve seen some of his stats & he’s been straight up awful, seems like wanting to reunite with Tocchett hasn’t helped.
