The deal is spot on, the contracts are awesome.

And if it's "only" $8M per, it will definitely be a 6 or 7 year deal.

He could. Think about it:
With the Flat cap, the payouts for this free agency are gonna be small.
SO, if he take a one year deal, he can raise his stock, and sign an even bigger long term deal nexy summer.
MORESO: If he plays of a good team like the bruins, he A) can play with Krejci and up his stock EVEN MORE. and B) he can win a cup!

Not a bad move

anywhere from 6-8, doesnt really matter. The important part is the next year anyway.

Pretty sure a UFA can only sign for 7 years max so 6 or 7 years.

No way in hell Krug takes $6.5 million to stay in Boston, There's already heavily rumors that he's seeking anywhere from $7.5m to $8.0m per for at least 6 years at the very least. Talk is that he wants close to $8 million per just to remain with the Bs.

Link to the article?

Because again, logically taking a one year deal makes sense.

“I don’t really want to play through a contract year again,” he said. “Whether it was the reason I had an off-year or not, I’d rather get some security and try and sign a longer-term deal.’’

Then there you have it. Good Find
