Byfuglien unrealistic but itd be cool

Created by: leafs101
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 23, 2020
Published: Apr. 23, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
NYI is a 3 way trade.
NYI receives: Johnsson, 4th rounder
DET receives: retained value on mayfield's contract, 4th, 5th
TOR receives: Mayfield retained

If byfuglien sucks, then you have mayfield to step into his role. Its also a one year deal, so you can move him at the deadline if you have to make room for someone to take him place. If he's a beast, then great.

Devils get a solid LHD to take big minutes and help shelter ty smith if he needs it. If smith isn't called up then he could still be a top 4 guy if given the opportunity. Then throw in a first and prospect. May need a bit more included because of the retention, so lmk on that one.

Mayfield and liljegren alternate on the third pair until one is clearly better, or until injuries hit.

    Robertson needs more development time.
I honestly think that the Byfuglien contract could be around that money. I don't think he's interested in money as much anymore or he would have been willing to play out the contract he had with Winnipeg, he's also been injured for the season which will detract from the offers he gets. At the end of the day I think that he wants to win a cup and will accept a deal that might get him that and other than that bottom d-pair which looked bad this year this team might be able to do it.

I doubt Byfuglien is chasing a cup, he already won one with Chicago in 2010, and adding one more to his resume isn't going to push him into the Hall.. He probably wants to get healthy and play where makes him happy, granted, winning is a good way to make any competitor happy.

Forgot he was with Chicago in 2010. But that doesn't mean he doesn't want another one. But the main point I was making is that I think his next contract will be more about location than about money
