At this point I don't know that teams would be willing to give up a first rounder for Patrick.

I was okay with that trade until I saw that Patrick didn't play a single game this season. Way too much risk imo. I'd do Howden, Hajek, and a 3rd for him I guess? MAAAAYBE a 2nd, but not a 1st.

*conditional 2nd. Starts as a 7th, turns into a 4th for 50 GP and a 2nd for 70 GP

Sure dude, Give up Howden+1st round pick for a guy who may never play hockey again due to Migraine issues. Yeah that makes tons of sense. Not.

Signing Barrie is like the Rangers signiing of Shattenkirk. Barrie is not worthy of much $$$ or term.

it seem to be 1 vs 100 on this and i understand most of the views here. he's only 21. he played well his first 2 seasons. has a very good all around game. but i understand everyone's concerns. a first might be too much to give up for him. he's still worth the gamble.

The issue here is that it's not like a broken hand or something like that, in that case you could cash in by saying how well he was prior to the injury. With migraines you never know what's next (I'm a Montreal fan and has seen Juulsen go down) so everything done before is out the window. You would be selling at absolute worst value right now.

i know everyone thinks i'm crazy for this but i would still gamble on him. a 1st is probably to much but andersson and something else a long side it is very worth it to me.

Halak has a $2,25M cap hit.
He makes $1,75M as base salary.
Performance bonuses: $1,25M if he plays 10 GP ( he will)
Signing Bonuses: $500K

= $3,5M as AAV

You signed him at $3,15M, never said if there would be bonus. I was right.
