He is signing in CSKA for 2 years. Would try to get back to NHL in 2 years.

Goldy has a lot of skill and is explosive. Really needs to add some muscle and build some confidence in Russia. He was a high risk draft pick from SJ and I really hoped he would pan out.

Mean to hit a 3rd round but didn’t notice till after and didn’t feel like redoing the whole thing.

He’s leaving cause Vancouver said they have no interest in bringing him back not cause he wants to leave. I think it would be worth it to try and convince him to stay. But from what I’ve been able to find he hasn’t actually signed a deal in the KHL yet.

He hasnt signed yet, since the NHL season is not officially considered "done" or "finished" and he is under contract. He cant sign unless his contract gets terminated.

Yea that’s my point so he can technically chose to stay in NA if he’s traded and wants to sign.

Brown hasn't been consistent enough to warrant a 4 x $4M contract. And chasing after someone else's disaffected European seems counterproductive. If he couldn't make the Canucks (an inferior team) at 24, I certainly wouldn't spend a 3rd on him and certainly wouldn't sign him to a $1.5M deal and certainly wouldn't expect him to play 1st line minutes.

You worked hard to clear $4.5M in cap space (not counting the Brown and Goldobin overpays) and then you don't even spend it?

You don’t have to spend all the available cap at the start of the season you know that right? It leaves room to make moves during the season or at the the TDL.

I like to overestimate the contracts. If they work this way then there’s not really a problem if let’s say for instance in the Ottawa deal Edmonton doesn’t send Russell. Just a personal preference.

Yeah, but $4.5M in season opening cap space is like $20M in deadline cap space. What do you need all that for? Why not have a better team for the entire season rather than from the deadline on? Also, you can pick up UFA's in the summer using that cap space, whereas using the cap space at the deadline (or any time during the season) will cost prospects / picks.
