Unless you're taking a cap dump like Smith or Staal back, Rangers say no. They value Lemieux and the style of game he plays, and Lehkonen is not nearly an upgrade enough to make them say yes.

Yea.. Bouchard was highest PPG rookie Dman in AHL (that didn't come from NCAA) you don't trade that especially not for 1 year term

So you're afraid of Gallagher's contract (which won't be anywhere near 9 even tho he's a far better player than Krug) but you're not afraid of giving a complete PP specialist 9 mil...

My guess is Gallagher gets something like 7x7.

Lehkonen is a much better player then Lemieux though.

Habs would be wise to trade him if that's the case. Just replace him with Caufield. Could get some good players / picks back for Gallagher, and $7M in cap space could be pretty valuable as well.

Hard to say, Caufield will likely be a good player, but don't expect a huge immediate impact right away for rookies.
