And we’d lose him in the expansion draft most likely if we trade a goalie first

Are you referring to 'we' as in the Leafs or the Penguins?

I haven't seen that many trades, but it makes sense, I could play better than JJ (who hopefully gets traded, and yes that is an exaggeration) and Sully doesn't trust Riikola, he'd be a really good bottom pairing guy, the price likely isn't that high

Ok. So then I'm missing the point here. I answered the question of 'Why do people keep trading for Travis Dermott?' I never said anything about why the Pens should or should not trade for him. If the OP was referring to the Pens exclusively then that's my bad, but I haven't really noticed Penguins ACGM's trading for Dermott.

I haven’t noticed it either. This is the first armchair I’ve seen that involves a pens dermott trade

I probably should have mentioned in the description that I've seen a lot of Leafs ACGMs trading Dermott, I just felt like doing it on a Penguins team to see how he would fit and how the cap would work. I think I threw a lot of people off by doing it on a Penguins team and not a Leafs team.

Stay away from Dermott, he is really bad. Look at his analytics & he gives up tons of shots & scoring chances against. A turnover machine as well. Pens are better off keeping Johnson who is the way better option anyway.

WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP TRADING FOR TRAVIS DERMOTT. Part of the reason is the so many Leaf fans have this "handiness" obsession. For some reason some Leaf fan think Reilly, Muzzin and Sandin have locked up the three LHD positions and will play all 82 game each, so there is no reason for Dermot.Huh? Dermot is a good Dman and will cost efficient, just the type the Leafs can't afford to trade. But for some reason so many think acquiring an average RHD and paying him 4.0 make sense.
PS if needed both Dermot or Sandin can play the right side.

Absolutely. JJ in his prime was one of the best defenders in the game. Really good skater & puck mover who also played a physical game.

Not prime, right now, like in 2019-20. That's my question: Do you think Jack Johnson is better than Travis Dermott during the 2019-20 NHL season?

Yes, I have looked at the stats and watched you play. He certainly don't stinks. In the past two seasons he's pair with rookie rookie, and then largely with Ceci.. So it's not like he has had partner partner sheltered him. Of course so many CapFriendly followers think ALL Leaf Dmen stink and that the other 30 teams have at least six competent Dmen. Barrie and Ceci were the worse Leaf Dmen this seaoson.

These are all weak arguments. People trade for him because of who his step-uncle is.
