Description
I understand there are cap issues here but I think NYR could make it work. Buffalo gets 3 amazing prospects and 2 first rounders in a very deep draft. Rangers get that 1-2 punch down the middle with Eichel and Mika. I know this isn't likely to happen but if Jack wants out of Buffalo this is a realistic return.

Seeing the recent post when I saw "blockbuster" I already knew Eichel was in it
Saying that the value is nowhere close to Eichel's.

Rangers would have to deal cap to make it work. Swap Lundkvist with Trouba. Swap Chytil with Strome. Now you're in the ballpark.

I get Eichel is a great talent but that is fair value. 5 great pieces to build a contender with. 2 top 6 forwards 1 top 2 defenses and 2 picks in a DEEP draft.

The value doesn't matter. The value could be fair and Buffalo still says no. They have no interest in trading Eichel. Just because an elite player wants out doesn't mean you trade him. Non of the pieces you are giving will replace Eichel.

Lol I was actually thinking of the same trade.
But I added 2 first round picks

if Wayne can be traded, anyone can be traded...
don't act like it is so far fetched. the Sabres are working on their 2nd rebuild since drafting Eichel and it is only his 5th season in the league. it isn't looking promising any time soon.
at some point you have to think the guy is going to ask out.

that really isn't all that true - using Buffalo as an example moving ROR.
ROR wasn't elite but he was exactly what Buffalo needed behind Eichel - the organization was forced to move him for crap during a critical time in the rebuild because he was unhappy.

if Eichel becomes unhappy, the organization suffers and the hand is forced.
i'm not saying this happens, but it is very possible.

Yes I said just because your star player wants out doesn't mean you trade him. That makes zero sense. This isn't even nearly a realistic return because Eichel starts with Kappo and Mika

IMO, the Rangers may want to keep Zibanejad to give them 2 top centers. But I definitely like Kakko over Kravtsov, but I do not think the Sabres "need" a LHD prospect so neither Lundkvist nor K'Andre Miller really fit now so Chytil instead of either one. As adding Jack makes the Rangers playoff bound and the Sabres need more secondary scoring keeping Chytil makes more sense IMHO.

So please look at my post and give me some feedback. Not as a realistic trade but for value exchange and does it make sense for both teams https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1716946.

realistically - if the scenario presented itself and an Eichel to Rangers trade were presented, what is the real value and need in the return? i would argue that Mika would be useless to Buffalo in the sense that if Eichel is gone they are going full rebuild. Mika's age and contract status aren't conducive to Buffalo right now.

Wayne's trade from EDM to LA was essentially 3 first rounders and $15M in cash (i am assuming the other bodies in this trade cancel each other out - Carson/Gelinas vs McSorley/Krush). Eichel is as top end talent as you can get, but he isn't Gretz. What is today's value looking back on "the trade".

i am asking you because you seem somewhat reasonable on this god forsaken site and you are not a fan of either team...

Hard to compare, because the Oilers owner was losing money and if he didn't trade Gretzky he could have walked for nothing at the end of the season.

I would think that the Lindros trade would be a better comparable.

There's 29 other teams. Gotta think that gets beat. Is it fair to say that this offer leaves off their top 2 prospects?
