The Pegulas have a problem where the Sabres are second 2 the bills so while money on players in fine...out rink is never updated. Pretty sure they still had Tyler Myers banners in the stadium, as an active player.

Hasn’t Botts proven he’s not just gonna dump Risto like that?

Even if he doesn’t have the value Botts wants for him,
wouldn’t it be better to ADD to get a better player,
than just ship him out for parts??

This is about the owners. has your head been in the sand the last 6 weeks?

and after holding on to ristolainen past the point where everyone realizes he isnt good, yes he will have to settle for this

As much as Melynk getting criticized for being cheap, he and make some wise decisions. Sens were losing with Karlsson, Stone and Duchene. Despite trying to sign those players, the Sens decided to get assets for those players. And I betcha the Sharks and Nashville are having regrets about signing EK and Duchene to 11.5 X 8 and 7 X 7 contract. Would Sens fans be happy if the Sens had continued losing and having almost 20 m tied up in Karlsson and Duchene.?

Your hate for Risto is exaggerated
And it really shows in the bad trades you make for him over & over & over

Just for something different...
trade Montour instead
Or at least give us the return for Risto you think we’d get for Montour

The arena is more than fine
They’ve done plenty of updates & upgrades
Some fans just like to whine about everything
It’s really all just exaggerated bc ppl are frustrated with us still losing

Good post

And a TON of Sabres fans wanted us to go after Karlsson & Duchene
Would’ve been a disaster

it isn't exaggerated. the return for Risto is a middle 6 winger, maybe a 3C - that is it. the guy stinks.
unfortunately Buffalo doesn't have any other value that they can trade to get something better in return except for this years 1st rounder.
anything else in a Buffalo uniform that has value has to stay - they can't afford to move them.

Its always interesting to watch people wonder why we suck over and over again while having ristolainen struggle through 24+ minutes a night year after year, watching him unable to make an outlet pass (seriously, how many times a game do we have to watch him under absolutely no pressure slam the puck up off the boards for an icing?), watch him look like a drunk toddler in front of the net, watch him completely take himself out of plays to make unnecessary hits, and then demand ryan nugent hopkins back in a trade.

he isn't good and his perceived value is increased by secondary assists on the power play where jack eichel does everything.

my comparing him to melnyk is about the recent articles about all the layoffs and belt tightening at pegula sports and entertainment. not about signing hockey players.

things are apparently not well in pegulaville.

I would not say that the Pegula family are the "new Eugene Melnyk" due to the fact of Melnyk not willing to spend money, shoddy business operations, controversy after controversy, and the pure hatred from hardcore fans. Most casual hockey fans that I know cannot name any owner in the league, except for Eugene. The Pegula family certainly are not perfect though. Their treatment of long tenured employees, incompetence recently, and impatience are certainly not great. The known acknowledgment of Jack Eichel's "requests" do not help their image either, but hey, tons of sports teams cater to their star players. I view the Pegula family as their own breed. I've always wondered why players HATE playing in Buffalo, and like Ryan O'Rielly, "lose their love for the game" and "do not want to play hockey anymore", and I'm assuming the Pegula family is why.

Every single point you made here has some validity
It’s also very exaggerated

And again...
Botts has already proven he isn’t gonna trade him for this kind of a return

his refusal to move him while he had more value will end up with him trading him for less.

if he played better, it was marginal and only temporary (he regressed badly as the season went on). and it was coming off a completely horrendous season.
