Theyrrrre Great EDM CBJ

Created by: CMac66
Team: 2020-21 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 28, 2020
Published: Apr. 28, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
One time Draft Sim results!.. Wow that's unfortunate: Ducks, Kings, Red Wings, Sens, Sens
1. Ducks - Lafrieniere - must be nice
2. Kings - Byfield - Kinda plays LA's style, good fit
3. Red Wings - Stutzle, Za German power hause yah?
4. Sens - Drysdale, not passing on him here. It would make one hell of a D unit for years
5. Sens - Rossi, I think if they miss out on the top 3, they're taking the '67. Dynamic and oozing with magic in offensive zone. I'm actually tempted to take Lundell even though it might be considered a reach. Ulitmately Rossi's skill is too tempting to pass on

Pick 21 - Jack Quinn if available (probably won't be) or Maverick Bourque/Rodion Amirov

  1. Chlapik, Filip [RFA Rights]
  2. Tierney, Chris [RFA Rights]

I think EDM could resign Tierney for a good value contract and he's right in their age wheel house. 3rd C, 2nd C when Leon plays with McDavid,
2.
OTT
  1. Jenner, Boone
Additional Details:
I just really like his 2 way hard forechecking game and I think the Sens could use a guy that this. CBJ might need to sell a contract after Dubois signs.

More Latvian's for CBJ but he's actually pretty good and I think he could eventually help with their lack of goal scoring

Columbus isn’t trading Jenner unless we are getting a 2nd line center in return... he’s a better 3rd line guy but ended up our 2nd line center last year... we also need centers vs more wings...

I really don't know how good he's going to be but he struck me as a late bloomer from the start. I was hoping the Sens would draft him in his draft year. He's developing slowly as I kind of expected but I really don't have a good idea of his curve. I hope he gets over to North America eventually.

Pretty sure they're having a draft lottery though

True, but is this happening? I don't see them changing the rules for 1 draft

Its very likely to happen to prevent playoff teams from winning it all and only the bottom 5 teams can get Laf

He's not a sure thing as he doesn't have any offense. Best case scenario is a poor man's Carlo.

And just a note on the Edmonton trade notes: when Draisaitl plays with McDavid, Nugent-Hopkins would be the 2C, not Tierney. But it's a decent trade all round though, I think Holland would go for it.

Q: you mention that you think Tierney would sign a good value contract in Edmonton. What do you think that looks like?

I know they did it in 2005 but they didn't play the whole year, this is a bit different. teams 6 to 10 would be beyond pissed if they couldn't have a chance to get in the top 3. As for the teams on the bubble, make it points percentage and if you're 16th team, sorry about your luck. Better 1 pissed off team than 8

It's not set in stone yet, is it? Bruce Garrioch seems to think a decision is coming soon, but I haven't heard anything definitive yet. Have you? (I'm a little behind with the news today).

In his draft year he had good junior numbers for a dman and I thought he could build on it but he just never did.

RNH plays LW sometimes though and I mean whether Teirney or RNH is on the wing, they could this use him in a top 6 role at the end of games or when they're pushing.

Good question, it's kinda tough to answer. I wouldn't have paid Pageau 5m because I felt he benefited from a larger role on the team and frankly teams just wouldn't play him there. I kind of feel the same with Tierney to a lesser extent. He was a pretty trusted player and I think that helped him numbers. So I could see something around the 4m mark for 4 years? I'm not sure what you consider value, but for a utility guy that can play on any line and put up some points it seems about right. And I certainly think he could play beyond that number in a year. Where as Pageau, I think he might have a tough time matching the contract. But good on him for getting it from Big Lou over there lol

It’s not but Bettman suggested it and apparently when he does, it means there’s a high possibility it does happen

The only times in his career to play LW were when paired with a top-5-in-the-world center. Tierney would play LW if on a line with McDavid or Draisaitl too.

The max would be 4 spots so 6 can move to 2, 7 could move to 3, 8 could move to 4.

Right, forgot that's how they did that. But I still think there would be outrage from teams 7, 8, 9, 10. The top 5 teams? They sign off right away but after that I just don't see the GMs agreeing. Even still, 5th team might was the chance to jump into the top 3 even if it's not 1
