Homer signings and trades MTL very unrealistic

Created by: OilersNation

Description
Tad optimistic with the FA signings wanting to come to Edmonton but I think they’re pretty fair value wise. Not sure on Drouins’ value completely, I’d assume I’d have to add; Lavoie? McLeod?

Seems like a pretty good deal for the Habs. I think that they get the better player out of the deal.

Habs were going really well with a healthy Drouin. He’s finally breaking out I think. They shouldn’t be too hasty

Nurse terms are bad 2 years after UFA

I think you're over rating Drouin or underestimating Nurse. Drouin's 50 pts a year are easier to replace than a 1LD. Pretty sure Montreal's prospect pool has a lot more guys that can play LW than LD.

Hell no. Drouin is a 50 points player right, which is good, but is ceiling is crazy. Nurse is a #3 dman, not even close from a #1 dman. If Nurse had terms I could see it, but 2 years isn’t enough. MTL LD : Chiarot Mete Kulak Romanov Leskinen Ouellet Olofsson Alzner MTL LW : Tatar Drouin Byron Lehkonen ... Hudon Dauphin ...

He's already been in the league 6 years. At what point do you think he reaches his ceiling? Not hating on the kid, but think he is easily replaceable.
I understand that you would want Nurse to have more term, but if you think he's a #3d then it shouldn't cost much to resign.
Not my original post, but I'll add Neal for Alzner if it gets the deal done.

Drouin is a 50 point player. He’s not a “breaking star”. He is what he is. Habs ROB oilers blind with this trade. I’ll take Nurse over Drouin all day every day

He hasn’t reach it, he started the year so well before Ovi destroyed him, we were seeing the real Drouin drafted 3rd OA

Not even sure why you would even want Drouin I go for Tatar he is better and far more durable. Montreal undervalues him well at least here on this site they do.

Montreal needs to add a significant piece to get that trade done.

And I think you're overvaluing Ho-Sang, too. He's 24 and hasn't made the NHL yet, no way he's worth an NHL player PLUS a pick.

Surprisingly, no. Montreal hasn't drafted a natural LW in the first three rounds since Artturi Lehkonen in 2013. If we take centers that could play LW into account we could add KK and Poehling that's pretty much it but realisticaly you know KK won't be pushed to the wing and Poehling doesn't project as a top line winger. On the other hand it's well known that Montreal had lots of success lately with their LD draftees so that's why I'll never understand why people are always trading our LWs for defenDers.

The value is even, but I don't see MTL doing it.

And to those saying Nurse is the better playing in the deal go watch Drouin's highlights from 2018-19 and the start of this year. Other than a very bad stretch toward the end of 2018-19 and his injury, Drouin has been really good in MTL. He's one of MTL's only game breakers at this point.

Edit: and I really like Nurse, I wanted the habs to offersheet him when Edmonton was in their cap crunch and got him on a cheap bridge deal a few years ago. But I wouldn't overpay for Nurse, especially with how many LD prospects are on the way for MTL.

Habs have Romanov, Struble, Norlinder, Harris, Fairbrother etc.

At LW they have .... nobody. Literally no prospects who are natural LW's.

You lose credibility on your thoughts on what MTL should do when you say stuff like this.

I like the MTL deal, much more realistic than many other ACGMs on here.

The main issue I noticed is you might not have left enough cap space to re-sign RNH and Yamamoto next season.

That’s built around Larsson’s, Granlund’s, the ’s buyout expiring and Sekera’s buyout lowering. I’d assume Bouchard would be ready for 3/4 D role at that point.

Holland significantly lowered the value with that contract, I think it’s a pretty fair price and a deal that somewhat makes sense for both sides. With Ho-sang, I’d assume that no one would actually want to take Khaira’s contract so I slightly added.

I think Perfetti would be an ideal pick, and looking at most of the teams ahead of them, he’ll likely be there.

I don't see an issue with the contract in this context. Drouin gets $5.5M for 3 years then UFA, Nurse gets $5.6M for 2 years then UFA. It's not that different... and Nurse is clearly the more valuable player. This isn't a close trade at all really.

Boston wanted Khaira at the deadline, they offered Heinen for him.
