I wouldn't be. Every since Engvall has signed than contract he has 1 point and 1 goal. Against a Zamboni driver.
It was like 19 games ago that engvall signed his contract

Production aside (which is still better then Howdens even tho it’s meh) he’s a better player overall. Howden is by far one of the worst 5v5, possession, and PK players in the league. Even worse still, he’s placed in a shutdown role. Engvall will fit much better into that role.

With his 1 goal against a Zamboni driver on a good team. While Mikheyev was injured Engvall played a bit with Tavares and Nylander and couldn't even get a point
Its pretty much a cap dump for us

I understand your point but you’re vastly understating his defensive value. But your happy and I’m happy so why argue about it amirite? 😆

Don't know why I am arguing. Just take this deal. At least howden doesn't cost much to burry

What exactly are you expecting to receive for him? He’s a 3C playing with Panarin...

1- no he's a slightly below aveage 2C
2-we're not moving him he plays so well with Panarin

3-the equivalent of a very late 1st rounder

1. Yes he is a 3C. A below average 2C is a polite way of phrasing that he’s a third line player.
2. Imagine getting someone better (such as Domi) and how well HE would play with Panarin?
3. A mid 2nd and a decent NCAA prospect is so marginally close to equaling a very late first, we’re splitting hairs...

Domi is going to want more than 5m, which means we certainly don't want little Domi.

I'm already concerned about our cap situation a few years from now. I know Hank's, Smith's and Staal's contarct will free up a ton of money and while that is great, we'll need to find money elsewhere... ADA will command a big payday as soon as this summer or an even bigger one 2 years from now if he takes a bridge, if we dcide to keep Fast which would be the best thing to do since he plays a great 200 foot game we'll need money for him, same goes for Lemieux and Georgiev... and that's just for this offseason. For the 2021 one, we need to resign IGOR(!!!!), Buchnevich, Lindgren, Gauthier and Chytil will all need new deals. And in 2022 Fox(!!!) and Zibanejad(!!!!) will need new contracts as well.

So, since Domi wll cost more money than Strome, I want the latter to remain in NY. Look, we still have a ton of prospects who don't have a single NHL game played...

Basically what I'm trying to say is that if we are to invest big money into players, we should do that in 2021 or 2022, when more young players are in the lineup and when we are closer to the SC

Strome and Domi are very similar players, the difference between them is at most a late 2nd. However, the cost to move up to pick 22 (CAR 1st) from around pick 45 (FLA 2nd) is about pick 30 (late 1st).

That's just the picks. But on top of that, Jones is up about 2 whole tiers from Lindmark value wise. Jones is closer to Tippett than Lindmark value wise.

So yeah, it'd be one thing if you were consistent and dealt a 1st + Jones for Domi, while netting a 1st + Noel for Strome. But you're not really in the ballpark.

I'd say something like Pajuniemi + 2nd certainly gets the conversation started. Maybe add Rykov or Hajek as a sweetner, but that seems adequate for Domi.
