I am definitely not comfortable putting Spezza and Barabanov on the third line.

Hard pass on Kapanen for that price. Understand it might be his value, but not a price im comfortable with

Depends on how good Barabanov is. But Engvall, Thorton and/or Korshkov could always move up. Potential for Bracco and super far stretch for Robertson to be up there also.

Now that I look at it I don't think its terrible. Just give the top 2 lines a lot of minutes. If they don't produce then we trade them.
We paid 40mil+ for our forwards to produce and not do sh*t like losing to a Zamboni driver

Very Late first for Kap. Depends if San Jose decides to go full rebuild or not. Either way they get a solid middle of the pack winger, with term, who is young and fast. May not be a bad trade for them.

No we got a steal of a deal and id perfer to keep it that way. That pick can get us a very good prospect in this draft

Yea super minutes for top 2 lines. Bottom 2 lines can hold their own, give them so good vets and put up some goals and energy. And there are 6 centres on this version of the team. Matthews, Tavares, Kerfoot, Spezza, Thorton and Gauthier. So they have depth in that regard. Main reason why I traded Kap instead of Kerfoot.

I dont think its a bad trade, I just think id rather not spend the first if possible

We shouldn't trade Kapanen. He is extremely underrated. Look at this list
If you want utility he plays on the pp and pk
if you want speed he is one of the fastest
If you want second line points he can do it. On the leaf he can't because we have so many good ones
if you grit he has got some
if you want a good contract he has got it
if you want someone who is young he is 23
if you need quick hands

I am not disagreeing with you on that. I decided to trade him over Kerfoot to keep our centre depth and used his money to sign DeMelo. Something has got to give with their current make up. Don't like trading Kap. That's for sure.

We shouldn't. Wait till his value goes up then we could.

Barbanov will be a solid third liner like mikeyv was. I have seen him in the KHL and man can that kid maneuver the puck. The lack of production was primarily due to his reduced ice time and being moved to a different line. But he should get around 25-45 points within the nhl depending on what line they put him on. As for bracco he can be on the 4th line who cares for that.

Just because San Jose robbed Tampa doesn’t mean they have to get ripped off by the leafs

Kapanen is worth Tampas first though. I didn't mean for anyone to take that Statement seriously

I disagree. Teams are gonna be looking at cutting cap due to no increase in the salary cap. It’s a buyers market. Leafs won’t get a first for Kap. Teams know they’re desperate to move out money

100% disagree on that statement. If the salary is getting cut then there is gonna be a cbo. Teams will then have a good amount of cap.

I think Kap is worth the first for sure. I just have no interest in spending it really, unless the player we were trading for is an all star. The sharks need high end prospects in the system

Yea. I wouldn't trade a first if your San Jose. Your team is gonna probably have to rebuild or retool.
I think a team like Edmonton wouldn't mind giving a protected pick + a depth nhl player

Kap is a top 9 forward. He’s good, but let’s pump the breaks on him. He can’t carry a line. This year it’s a very deep draft and teams are likely to find prospects with higher upside than Kap in the late first round. Leafs will probably move him for a 2nd+ or package him for a D
