This feels like a huge shift in how OTT does business. Who's the last Russian FA that OTT has actually won out in negotiations with other teams for? Pretty sure this is a first...Regardless of how he plays, its intriguing to me that he even wanted to sign with OTT, and I would consider this a huge win moving forward.

Melnyk was probably trying to find a way for insurance to pay for it.

Since the Sens acquired Vitaly Abramov, it's been a complete about face. Before that, the last Russians in Ottawa were Filip Kuba and Nikita Filatov in 11/12. Now we have Abramov, Anisimov, Zaitsev, Zub. It's so strange.

As far as Free agent signings, Sens haven't landed a Russian since Sergei Gonchar. Or Maybe Alex Kovalev? It's been a while.

Finally he got signed, but didnt expected that hes gonna be signed for that money.

To me thats a big overpayment, but Sens has a lot of cap so they can do what they want i guess.

PS: Oh, 1.775m is with bonuses. Didnt see that, my bad.
