Khisamutdinov was one of two triple-overagers that were taken in last year's draft (the other one was a goalie that Edmonton got from the KHL). We'll see how he does in the AHL, but it says a lot about him wanting to be an NHLer to be willing to sign an ELC so soon after being drafted from Russia.

He better become a star so that I can watch commentators mess up his name all the time

It’ll be interesting to see how he does in Laval next year. Hopefully he does well in the new setting.

Romanov won’t sign until we know what’s happening for the rest of the 19-20 season.

He’s extremely reliable defensively for his KHL team, even as a forward. He’s a big kid with a good shot.

Ar-sen She*-sah-moot-dee-nov
(I’ve heard it pronounced both She & He, not sure which one is correct)

It honestly starts to roll off the tongue once you get the hang of it. What’s hard is trying to pronounce his former KHL team: Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk

Now that you're done clearing your throat why dont you tell us his former team's name?

I’m not 100% sure, but I think it’s something like:

Could we compare him to a bigger Lehkonen than? Good overall offense but specialist in his zone?

Reminds me more of Desharnais in his prime but giant.

Interesting.
I remember after that draft a media member asked Timmins why they went off the board with this kid (He was projected to go undrafted) and his answer was that they were really high on him but didn't want to get into an UDFA bidding war so they snatched him in the 6th round as a precautionnary step. Looks like they still like him a lot if they went out to sign him ahead of guys like Hillis, McShane and others.
