This is a proposed new way that the league wants to do the draft. If it happens, teams 1 through 5 currently slated would have chance at #1. Other teams in the lottery 6 through 15 all have a chance to move at most up 4 and down 1.

Dude the draft lottery is dead this year, They're proposing for this year going back to the old format. Which means Detroit can't finish any worse then #2 overall. They want a early draft June 5th and plan on voting this week on it. Both Bettman and Daley are in agreement on a early draft. There's noway this is going to happen. It's just not feasible to have a late draft that takes you into free agency and then into the season it's just to much.

There is no way this lottery happens... How is it fair to teams like NJ and BUF (and MTL) who are definitely in the same category than ANA (who gets a shot at laf). If the problem is preventing potential playoffs teams to win both the lottery and the stanley cup, just take the top 20 teams (best 10 teams in each conference) out of the lottery while allowing them a place in the playoffs... Teams between 12 and 15 were all really close to be in it anyway. Then just do a regular lottery with the 11 worst teams that wont be in the playoffs...

I thought the same and all gm who are screwed will be pissed. U have to deal with it and if we’re honest Habs don’t deserve Lafreniere.

What? Habs deserve Laf as much as anybody else... Hed be amazing here and between every teams in the top 10 for the lottery, MTL is probably the place where he could have success the soonest.

Not my point. We had 96 points last year and missed by 10 this year with injuries. I’d love him here but Ottawa and Detroit were actually brutal.

Technically is more fun, Montreal can move up to 4. Teams at 15 can move up as well. Also the nhl isn’t worried about the amount of people watching

We'll see what they'll do with lottery next week. It will be interesting to see what they'll do but it better be fair. How awful would that be for MTL to not be included in the playoffs and not even get a shot a the best native player we've seen since Lecavalier...

We havent had a real forward superstar since... Honestly, I dont even know. He would become our Matthews, Eichel, MacKinnon, etc. We need him as bad as DET or OTT in my opinion

We need him, but didn’t have a disastrous year like them to deserve him
