This proposal isn't fair for the teams between 6 and 9 who are in the same category as ANA or LA (who both would get a shot at 1oa). There's no way this is happening

It is. There will always be someone not happy in any way they do it. And this is the only scenario where a June draft is possible. They won’t make a regular lottery and have a fringe playoff team win it and make the playoffs

What they could do is take the last 11 teams for the lottery and confirm a playoff spot to the 20 top teams (10 best from each conferences). Then you do a regular lottery with the 11 last teams and no bubble teams get to win it

Well there’s a reason we are the bottom teams cuz our team sucks. Why do u care when you got Matthews, Marner and Nylander in the lottery. If someone proposed to have taken Matthews from you , you would say yes?

The way I understand it the last 11-14 games this season might be played at neutral sites no fans. Then they will make a decision on how to handle playoffs when they a little closer. Then they will try to start the 2020-2021 season in December. With that many games it's likely the draft order change.

I didn't really pay attention to hockey back then. I just thought if we were in last place we would win the lotto

That would make Ottawa scary. It would set up nicely for a re-invigorated battle of Ontario.

The only fair way to do a lottery will require to league to decide what they are gonna do with the regular season. If there's no regular season then sure, give more teams a shot. If they are gonna do expanded playoffs then yeah only 5 or so teams should have a shot at #1
