"why lehtonen"WATCH THREAD.

To quote Blutto in Animal House, when he gave the Delta name to new pledge, Flounder, "Why not?"

Leafs appear to lots of LHD of NHL calibre, but are short of depth at LHD with the Marlies, which will probably be the destination of two of Rosen, Marincin and Lehtonen.

Why not? Minimal risk at a low salary. This may turn out to be nothing. This may turn out to be something. Too early to tell.

A good heads up signing by the organization IMO.

So in other words, a cap friendly signing that frees up a trade asset if need be and you deny his services to your rivals.

Why not indeed?

from the Leafs standpoint...why not? is the correct answer. Never hurts to have more depth. From his point of view...he wants to push the pace and get as many points as possible. That's where he's going to get a big contract. The Leafs can score points and he hopes to be part of that.

Try Lehtonen first imo, then Sandin.

Heh. It's a pretty solid bet that two wouldn't include Lehtonen.

and if he doesnt work out off the start, he is waivers exempt and can head to the Marlies (who knows if the player and team talked about such a thing)
There is 0 risk with this added depth.

Derms could be moved yes. Might not depends on asking price and so many variables that nobody knows anything about
Rosen and Marincin.
