MTL gets their center NSH gets a major offensive boost

Created by: leafs101
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: May 4, 2020
Published: May 4, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Leaf fans may not like giving away the stars, but this team still has firepower, and is crazy deep. You might be able to get another good piece out of NSH but if not this team is still looking good. Disregard the Clifford pick swap, but a trade for that pick would have to be made to OS Cirelli.

We like Holl a lot but Dermott can go. Tavares will never play for the Habs but if this trade did go down we'd rather have Danault for his low cap hit and 2 way game. How about this:
    Weber (30% retained)+ Danault for Tavares+Dermott
    Balancing picks on both sides

I assume that your last trade is a "to any team, together or separate" kind of idea, because I can't think of anything we need less than left-handed forwards.

Preds decline. That leaves like $7M to fill 8 roster spots.

I originally had his as 2C. Still a good 2C option if someone gets hurt

I'd rather domi than danault. Better offence, very chippy, and could be coached into a very strong defensive player. Reminds me of kadri a bit

Yes but Danault will be 3-4m cheaper. Although I love Domi, played for the Knights and one of my favorite players I think MTL would be more willing to trade Danault. Just my thoughts. Love them both either way.

If the leafs make these deals they won't be so cap pressed when it comes to finding depth, so paying more money to get the guy they want won't be that big of a deal

Well just because you can spend +4m on your stacked forward lineup it doesn't mean you should. If that 4m means you sign DeMelo then that seems better right?

And what make you thibk that the Habs would have any interest of doiing such deal? This deal is terrible for Montreal Weber is still one of the best right handed defenseman in the league, Danault might win the Selke this season and on top of that Montreal would have to retain 30% on Weber to get 11 millions of Tavares who by the way is way to much money. We already have Carey Price who make too much there no need to Managed poorly or cap like Dubas did.

Ya I know. I'm not saying Weber is bad or Danault is a selke-candidate I'm just saying what I'd do the trade for. I don't think either team is intrested.

Even if the cap wasn't a concern, the value is awful for NSH.

Tavares didn't even give the Habs an interview when he was a free agent what makes you think he would waive his NTC to go there now?

If the cap weren't an issue, I think taking Fabbro and 1st out brings it closer. But I doubt TOR does that. Can't see them moving Marner without bring any D back.
