Who would you pick??? Tkachuk or Byram

lastwordonhockey compares Byram to Drew Daughty and Brady to his father and brother.

Since OTT has JBD, Brannstrom and Thomson coming up I take Tkachuk if I were them

However, if I’m COL, I pick Byram because I already have star talent up front

Very easy: BRADY TKACHUK. This kid drafted walked into the 1st year in the league and performed with the top 2 selections in terms of points on the worst team in the league. He didn't exceed the expectations but looks like he's changing the culture of the organization. Bowen Byram is really good but he'd be a 2nd pairing d man with Chabot ahead. If we are talking about Kirby Dach with that pick than it would be a different story. Would you rather take Brad Marchand or Darnell Nurse?

Brady.

I've seen Bowen play 3 years in the WHL as a vancouver local. I watch the giants frequently.

Where his offensive upside is sensational, his defense is almost Draisaitl bad. Gets caught on RW more than the RWs.

he will be an elite player definitely, but I fear he could become like Gostisbehere if he doesn't fix the defensive game soon. Even at his best I don't see him being better than Chabot. Maybe equivalent, which still is pretty great. As a giants fan I obviously want the best for Bowen, but I can't lie about the flaws to his game, which are not hidden when he plays.

Saying this is not to say Byram is a bad pick, I just see there being more flaws to his game SO FAR vs. brady, who also belongs to a rare category of playertypes in this league.

The Sens made the right choice here.

Byram still play in The CHL

I go to Wisconsin and I try to tell rangers fans the same about Miller and they just call me jealous and point to his offensive stats lmao. People dont take watching prospects in person seriously enough and only focus on stats so I've just stopped trying to tell them at this point

Tkachuk, Byram is a top 4 spec on hockey, but Tkachuk is better, and was the right choice at the time, the 2019 draft was relatively weak compared to 2018

Yah i've had this conversation with the Avs fans before, and I think they recognize that Byram's defensive game needs work. The gap of HOW MUCH work that part of his game needs is perhaps larger than they might think.
Rangers fans are set in their ways. It's a generalization of course, but it's common that once they make their mind up on something, it ain't changing.

Not even a question at this point. Brady Tkachuk is one of the top individual creators of offense in the league in terms of expected goals/high danger chances or whatever metric you'd like to point to. Byram is a fantastic offensive talent, but he's also got some glaring defensive flaws that will hinder his ability to reach those heights if he doesn't sort it out.

Are you saying I can have Marchand for Darnell Nurse? If that’s the case then 💯

Kind of hard for Byram to win this one without proving what he can do at the NHL level yet. As of right now, easily Brady but by year 10? Its anyone's guess.

Him and Svechnikov will be the #1-2 best LW either way, either one could be #1 or #2

I agree, I will take Tkachuk rn because he is a winner by heart and he has the skill to get where he want to go and score like he wants, he is an absolute beast.

How soon is the question? Panarin has about 3-4 years left IMO, maybe even more

Ik, I love Panarin, those 2 are just so good I believe that they will be better than him as 22-23. That's just my opinion, Brady Tkachuk is probably better than Matthew which is scary...
