Think from CBJ's side: They get two middle six FWDs in Johnsson and Kapanen, which every team has. Liljegren is a nice piece, but will never end up anywhere near the quality of Jones, I think most Leafs fans would be happy if you said he would turn out to be a solid middle pairing D-man. And then you have a 1st which likely is 20-30 OA. Quantity never makes up for quality when we are talking about a player of that calibre. Only way a trade for Jones gets done is if Marner or Matthews is part of it. I don't even think Nylander as a centre piece gets it done.

I'm not sure Mariner does it as you said they need a center. I'd be interested to see what a Matthews for Jones trade would look like imo I think it's pretty close to a 1 for 1.

I think Seth Jones is a bit overrated, but this doesn't get you him. He's their top pairing d-man and they are not really looking to trade him. It would have to be something beyond his value if you want to get him.

I sure would like to see a post, just one, where Jones is traded to another of the NHL 29 teams besides the Leafs. OK, lets's imagine Columbus doesn't like this deal. But why do the Leafs? You really think Jones is going to vault the Leafs to success? Really? He hasn't done with his previous two teams. Engval and Robertson on the third line. Barbarnov, Brooks and Marincin on the team, Dermot not.
Two years of Jones, Leafs no better off and now without Kapanen, Liljegren and all those picks and soon no Jones.

Gotta love all those picks in the first three rounds in the next few years. Going for broke, cool.
