I would say yes. But I'll leave that to Preds/Leafs fans to argue over

You could probably get a much better return for Burnsy. Add Fabbro and one of the 2 second round pick. Even in a down year for San jose Burns number where still above average. But would be a good fit in Nashville they already are pretty much loaded on defense and Josi and Ellis already run their powerplay

As a leafs fan I would say yes but I see Kapanen getting traded for someone already developed

Sensibly I would side with you both, but I've been told in many ACGMs by the "Burns contract won't even return a 1st" group that IDK what to do with Burns

I’d take that leafs trade in a heartbeat if I’m Toronto.

Burns would be a great fit on Nashville but I’m not sure if another expensive veteran defenseman is the smartest addition right now.

I don’t understand that Pysyk signing at all though - wasn’t he the seventh defenseman on Florida this year

For starters we keep Burns. There is no one to replace his offensive output and Merkley is still a year or two away.

Ah i see. This trade was meant to happen if we do a rebuild. IDK what place Turris has on our team if we look for contending

If Burns had shown any sign of downgrade in is game it would be Different but he hasn’t. People put way to much emphasis on age here. Burns is a great skater and never really was hard on is body. Most players who seem their play really slow down in their early 30 are most likely guys who never really where good skater. Players like Duncan Keith, or Dan Boyle or Matt Cullen or Chris Chelios where all good skater and have played great even in their late 30’s

Preds pass on both of these. I'd rather hold onto Turris, than take on that Burns contract. Kapanen doesn't get you Fabbro, even without NSH adding.

Like i sais earlier Nashville isn’t probably the best Destination considering they have a really solid top 3 defenseman. There some team that would desperately need a top right handed defenseman that could use him.

Edmonton could very use a guys like Burns would probably have to retain some salary but still he would make them a true contender. Winnipeg, vegas, even toronto but cap wise it would be tough.

I don't think he'd be that great of a fit on NSH. They already get enough offence from the blueline. What they need is to start phasing in some younger and cheaper D men. Burns is definitely not young or cheap. And it doesn't make much sense for them to spend assets for one year of Burns, just to lose him to Seattle (he wouldn't get protected over any of NSH's other top 4).

I didn't even notice the Pysyk signing at first. Yikes! That's about 3x what he's worth.

Fabbro is too important to NSH's future to get traded for anything other than a massive overpay. I think they'd turn down Kapanen & a 2nd for Fabbro.

Fair enough. I really like fabbro, but if you really want to kickstart that offence, I don't know how many teams will be willing to offer you better than kapanen- not that fabbro isn't better, but he's kind of in the middle in the sense that he's worth a decent amount less than guys like Nylander and Ehlers, especially considering most teams that have player like them are trying to contend and won't wanna give them up, but he's worth more than guys like kapanen.
