Why would Leafs want another offensive defenseman

Kap>/= Roslo and Lilja>>>>Pionk (purely value wise) you can't really turn that down... Especially if they resign Demelo

Pionk was excellent this year. No way jets trade their only RHD signed for next season

I mean leafs rip them off in value but fit wise your right, leafs don’t need a player like Pionk.

They dont. Liljegren has more value than Roslovic and Kapanen valuewise equals Pionk.. but Kapanen would probably make a better defenseman than Pionk so there is that for a fit.

Pionk had more points this year than Kap as a D lol. He’s worth way more than Kap. Sure he’s not great defensively but play him with morrisey, and it’ll be a very solid top pairing. Since when did Kap = a teams top pairing RHD? (Unless that team is Ottawa, in that case, yes Kap is worth more than Zaitsev)

Depends on a D, but Kap is worth a top-4 D who is very good offensively but **** defensively. Pionk is like Barrie..

Why would the Jets do this? Kapanen and Roslovic are close in value, and Pionk >> Liljegren.

Ok um what, why would Winnipeg do this, their main focus should be acquiring a 2c and improving their d-core. Sure liligren can help with that but getting rid of one of their best defenders in pionk is just out of the question.

Well, this was a mistake. I knew before I even clicked on this that I’d see a bunch of Leafs fans talking sh*t. It’s funny to me that people think that Liljegren’s value is more than pionk. I’d have to say that he does hold good value, but after the monster year Pionk had he’s got to hold more value than an unproven prospect that’s already 21. Plus I’d rather have roslovic over Kapanen. Reason being that roslovic can play C, he’s the Jets only shot at having a 2C from an internal perspective.

Plus the jets already have Pionk, DeMelo (hopefully resigned) and poolman to fill out the right side. It’ll be logjammed for another 4 years. People think Winnipeg’s blueline is the issue, when in reality, it’ll be solid in 1-2 years once the younger guys grow into their roles. The jets need to focus on a 2c.

Pionk is solid defensively, people here don't know wtf they're talking about obviously, Jets would be crazy to trade Pionk for Liljegren.

Now, Winny passes. The value is not bad, but slightly in favour of Toronto. And if you look at team needs, Winnipeg need more Dman, not less. It doesn’t make sense for them. From the leafs perspective, I would easily take this deal.

The Jets don't need more wingers. Kapanen would be playing on the third line (he's not better than Connor/Wheels/Laine/Ehlers) and the jets need D that can play in the NHL today, not prospects.
Also, people that think that Pionk is purely an offensive defenseman just look at his stats, not his overall play. He was very solid in his own end all year.
