Torn on that one. In many ways, Smith totally sucks. For long periods, his play drops off a cliff. That said, there is something awesome about him. The whole team plays a lot faster when he is the goalie. He moves the puck but also gives an emotional boost to the team. Apparently, he is a great leader and mentor to boot .

If the Oilers could get him for 2 years for cheap and spend the rest on a great 3C or top line winger, I would be okay with re-signing Smith.

I don't think Peterka will last to your pick in the second round and the best way to insure that you have another disgruntled first-round pick is to stiff him out of a measly $50,000 per year.

No he's more comfortable on the left, always has been.... Just the oilers were short on rhd for the past 3 seasons... He's a LHD, do you watch oilers games? He greatly prefers to play his natural side

Lol capfriendly doesn't always get it right! But I understand that anyone who's not an oilers fan would assume it because he's listed as a RHD on here for some reason

yah i figured i would get some pushback from people saying that Peterka would not be available in the second which i totally agree is likely to happen but here is hoping.

Obviously, the salary was me just quickly putting whatever number in ... i would expect the oilers to pay what is due

They'll change it if you point out the error.

In any case, Helm doesn't play center, so that trade doesn't work for the Oilers.

I think those 2nds and 3rds you got for pool come to Detroit for us taking on Russel's contract as well as retaining on helm who will get us at least a 3rd at this deadline. So unless it's a 2nd and a 3rd no deal
