I never want to see martin or brassard dress for the islanders again after this season. Let them walk.

If barzal is getting 10 mill, it’s going to be for 6 or 7 years

If your doing 7 years he should drop to 8.5 or 9 not 10

Wouldn't recommend starting Wahlstrom on his off side.

I want him in the Ovi spot on the left side. If Barry can teach a vet who never played defense to change course and play defense I’m sure he can help a rookie too. And Barzys speed and Ebs passing and board play would set up well with a sniper like Wahlstrom who can just fire away

Dobson didn't look well on his offside. Would rather a top line like this in the long-term

Beauvillier - Barzal - Wahlstrom

The tendencies Beauvillier and Wahlstrom have really compliment one another.

I see Barzal taking a very similar deal to Marner. Marner got 6x10.8 and I think Barzy is a little better and is a franchise player so 5x10 seems realistic. I don’t see him wanting 6-8yrs when he can be a UFA sooner and still get his $ now

I had this argument with someone on Twitter a while back. I don’t think Beau is a top line LW. He’s not a sniper and he’s not really a playmaker. He’s a solid 2-way forward which fits better in the middle 6 (Beau-JG-Brass would be one of the best 3rd lines in the NHL). I think Wahlstrom is exactly what Barzal needs in a shoot-first big sized winger. Again, if Barry can get Ovi to play LW and still defend he can coach up Ollie too. That’s why he gets the big bucks. Also the Dobson comparison doesn’t really work, being a winger on their off side doesn’t require the same skills as a defenseman would need especially on d-zone exits its harder for defenseman to pass on their backhand side than on their forehand side.

Beau, like Tom Wilson, doesn't have to be a standout top line LW(although despite him being ridiculously snakebitten with a bottom 6 PDO on the entire team, he was projected to break 23 goals), but his 2 way role and speed is what would enable Barzal and Wahlstrom to play more freely. Lee doesn't have the speed Beauvillier has to open up Barzal and Eberle/Wahlstrom's game.

I don’t hate the line of Beau-Barzal-Eberle but they were getting pushed around a lot in their own zone when they were put together in the past. I prefer someone bigger on Barzal’s wing like I said before, and I think Barzal and Eberle should never be split apart they are super dynamic together and play off each other’s strengths so well. All they need is someone they can pass to who will just shoot everything. If Bellows can become a 1st line type talent then he is a potential fit in that spot but I think Wahlstrom is a better fit even on his off wing

Had nothing to do with getting pushed around. Had more to do with them adapting to a full 200ft game. Barzal wasn't the 1C right away and Beauvillier didn't get 20+ shifts a game until this season.

The isles won’t sign barzal for 5 years and walk him to UFA. It will either be a 3 year bridge deal or 6+.

Beauvillier led all islanders forwards in WAR (wins above replacement) this season. He emerged as a solid top 6 forward this year and put up good numbers in a system that stifles offense. In 2017-18 beau-barzal-eberle was the best line for the islanders during the 2nd half. Beau became much more physical this season after putting on some muscle and his honey-badger like forechecking style led to many goals for Nelson this season.
