This is purely fiction. I don't expect any of these trades to happen, but let's just humor it for a second. How close am I on these trades?

DAL
  1. Puljujärvi, Jesse [Reserve List]
  2. Räsänen, Aapeli [Reserve List]
  3. Russell, Kris
  4. 2022 2nd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Puljujarvi becomes Dallas' "top prospect" (if you consider him a prospect). He is an instant NHL'er with Dallas, and likely slides into their top-6 in order to continue his development with guys like Gurianov and Hintz. With Puljujarvi's unwillingness to return to Edmonton, his value has diminished a little bit, but after he torched one of the best leagues in the world, outside of North America, he's still going to fetch a good return for the Oilers.

Rasanen is simply because I'm greedy and love Finnish players. Sue me.

Kris Russell is simply added as a cap dump for the Oilers. He'll be a fine rotational defenseman for Dallas, and given how shallow their depth is at RD he could realistically be the everyday 3rd Pair RD
EDM
  1. Radulov, Alexander
Additional Details:
Radulov is on backside of his "peak". There's no denying that. Something that has magnified his slumping play has been the style that the recent Stars coaches have implemented. Radulov (along with the rest of the team) has seen his offense suffer because of this "defense first" mentality that Montgomery & Bowness preach. With McDavid or Draisaitl as his center, it should reignite the remainder of Radulov's good years before retirement.

McDavid & Draisaitl need legitimate scoring threats on their wings. They have RNH, but Radulov would go a long way to boost their top-6.
2.
SJS
  1. Pavelski, Joe ($2,500,000 retained)
  2. 2021 3rd round pick (DAL)
3.
DAL
  1. Noel, Serron
  2. Saarela, Aleksi [RFA Rights]
  3. 2021 2nd round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
Saarela has the makings to be a solid middle-6 winger for Dallas. He's young and has developed well over the last couple of years. He could develop into goal scoring stability the Stars have not had in their middle/bottom-6 in a long time.

Noel took a bit of a step back this season, and dropped down Florida's prospect rankings a little bit. He's a little bit of a risky piece to acquire for Dallas. If he rebounds from this last season, he can be a solid pickup here for Dallas, but if his draft season was a fluke then Florida is able to move on from a player that won't live up to the expectations of being a 1st Round Pick.
FLA
  1. Lindell, Esa
Additional Details:
The Panthers are the exact opposite of Dallas. They have a stellar offense and a problematic defense. While Dallas should sacrifice some defense to land offensive pieces, the Panthers can afford to sacrifice some offense to add defensive pieces.

Lindell is a great top-4 option for Florida on the left side. He's not going to put up a ton of points, but plays a strong, physical defensive game in his own end. Despite is fairly large size (6'3, 215 lbs.), he's a great skater. He is very smart both with and without the puck, and very rarely takes himself out of position.

With Lindell being 25-years old, and having 5 years left on his contract, he's a player that Florida can build their blue line around.
4.
DAL
  1. 2021 5th round pick (NSH)
5.
DAL
  1. 2021 5th round pick (WSH)
WSH
  1. Cogliano, Andrew
Additional Details:
Well...someone's gotta replace Leipsic
6.
DAL
  1. Abruzzese, Nick [Reserve List]
  2. Kapanen, Kasperi
  3. Kerfoot, Alexander
  4. 2021 1st round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
**2021 1st Round Pick is Lottery Protected**

Kerfoot slots in as the 2C on day 1, but realistically flips with Dellandrea after Delly gets some time to develop in the NHL. Either way, he's a strong middle-6 Center option for Dallas and gives them a more balanced top-9 than they've had in a while.

Kapanen can also fall into that same category as well, though during the season he could move up and down the right side of the top-9 depending on how the Stars other RW's are doing. He's versatile enough to play on any line.

Abruzzese is coming off a solid Freshman year at Harvard, and is a good long-term project for Dallas
TOR
  1. Faksa, Radek [RFA Rights]
  2. Klingberg, John
Additional Details:
Klingberg is among the best puck-moving defensemen in the NHL, and has seen his defensive game improve a little bit over the last year or so. He's still not the strongest player in his own end, but when the puck is on his stick it's essentially guaranteed that he'll get it out of his own end under control.

His offense speaks for itself as well. He's strong 5v5 and is great as a Powerplay QB. His numbers took a bit of a hit this year (as did the rest of the Stars) due to the defensive nature of Montgomery & Bowness, but he's a 60+ point defenseman with the more offense-friendly system the Maple Leafs run.

Faksa slides into the middle-6 spot vacated by Kerfoot (for a cheaper price). He's a strong defensive presence in the middle of the ice and he eats up a good amount of minutes on the PK as well. Not the strongest offensive player, but he's good for 10-15 goals and 30 points per year.

I figured that would probably happen. If he does go anywhere, I just assumed it'd be San Jose. It's certainly understandable that you wouldn't want that inflated contract...even with retention. Lol

Here is the main issue of bringing in Klingberg, toronto would have 4 QB defenseman for the pp (sandin, rielly, lehtonen, and Klingberg). The main thing is with the signing of Mikko Lehtonen I think dubas will now be focusing on a defensive defenseman to pair with rielly (i.e. manson, savard, etc)

This makes things hard as sure Sandin does not need to QB a pp but at the same time if Klingberg joins than Lehtonen will need to sit out and from what I have seen in the SHL, and KHL that guy is even more dangerous than barrie when it comes to the pp. He may even be on pp1 with the leafs next season moving rielly back to pp2. So Klingberg would then be mainly used in a more reserved role which I dont think he will enjoy to much.

That's fair. I appreciate the feedback. It's never a bad thing to have too many defensemen that can QB a powerplay. Talk to me about the value though. How close am I in terms of overall value?

yeah the mikko lehtonen signing kind of complicates things. In terms of value, kap abruze and the 1st can get Klingberg and kerfoot could get faksa

Kind of my thought process behind it as well. I initially had the trade minus Faksa before I took a step back and realized that it was a bit much going to Dallas. I appreciate the feedback.

If we get a CBO on Jones and pick up pavalski at 4.5 a year he still a 20-25 goal guy and we get that chemistry back pick up Griess for 3.65 and we still have enough in the cap to grab Dandenov.
Kane couture pavalski
Meir Hertl dandenov
Marleau Thornton Labanc
Kellman Gambrell Nosen
That’s a pretty good lineup and decent depth albeit old

You undervalue Klingberg way too much imo
