Description
The Nylander trade came from here: https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/325476
I just threw this together to demonstrate that it fits for Columbus. (Whether or not it fits for the Leafs is a different story. Note that the Nylander proposal was made in the context of the Leafs opening up cap to make room for Pietrangelo.)

The Murray trade is an ad-hoc thing that I was greedy on; we really only need to trim off about $2M or so (just over $500K above the cap, plus some wiggle room). Doesn't need to be Montreal, either. I considered having us take back Kulak to make the cap a little less lopsided in our favor, but wasn't sure if that would be acceptable or not, so I just kinda YOLOed it as is.

I get that the Nylander thing was another person's idea, but this would not be smart for the Leafs. If they trade willy, which I wouldn't, they'd need a high level young RHD coming back.

Also, if you want him as an offensive spark, fine, but he's very unproven at the C position in the NHL. You might be better off spending your assets on an actual center.

Just to reiterate what I said in the description - the Leafs were ostensibly covering that RHD coming back by getting Pietrangelo in FA in the original proposal. (The original proposal also had the Leafs somehow trading Rielly for Parayko as well, but I opted to omit that bit of comedy.) Obviously if that doesn't happen then even the paper-thin veneer of justification this has for the Leafs goes away, and given Petro's age it might not work in any case. This was more to make the point to fellow Jackets fans who were saying "we can't afford that".

The season Murray just had and his current contract, I don't think you would have to pay that much for him.

Whether or not Jackets can afford it, (and I do believe Anderson will be traded with the emergence of Stenlund, Bemstrom, signing of Grigorenko), it would be crazy to trade Foudy. I realize Nylander has some very good numbers, but he has not played center for any amount of time, he plays on the wing.
If Foudy turns out to be the real deal, we would be giving up our opportunity to have a rock solid 1C 2C combo for many years to come.
Plus, Jarmo is very protective of those 1st rd picks, especially after the Duchene rental (experiment, fiasco, etc.).

if nylander goes would rather see that trade with dallas happen as the leafs would get a top 4 RHD, robertsons brother, a cheaper 3c, a depth RD, and a 1st. Sure we would lose liligren as well but that trade is full of potential

The actual trade i want to see is Marner for 2 or 3 young pieces including a top 4 RHD that cost less than 7 mill combined and save the Leafs 4 mill

there are 3 teams I could see taking marners entire contract but the return would be tricky. Minnesota seems to be the most realistic but the question is what would the deal even be.
