The teams that traded a 1st for a goalie have sucked ever since

They've also traded a cap dump with the first. So sure murray is worth a first if you feel like taking on a cap dump

Murray was good in Pittsburgh's two consecutive Cup runs, but his play has declined significantly since then. He has been below average in the last 3 seasons, with a GSAA of -5.02, good for 29th out of 45 goaltenders with at least 80 games played over that span.

GSAA 2017-2020 - Natural Stat Trick

I wouldn't pay a 1st round pick for him, even a late round one.

giving me Murray's stats to convince me that he his Worth a 1st rounder is absurd… career stats don't dictate a player's value

If that were true : Jonathan Quick : 644 GP, 325 W, 0.913 SAVE% and 2 Stanley cups

Quick is far from beeing Worth even a late 1st rounder

yeah COL really sucks.

Honestly, He's worth atleast a 1st. Just wait though. Let FA happen and let teams go out there with no goalie as there aren't enough to go around. Then they can realize they need help.

Murray is an interesting case. 2 Stanley Cups ring loud. Being swept by the NYI and posting an .899 save percentage this year deadens a lot of that ringing. Given what has happened to teams that have invested heavily in goal tenders, I don’t think it is likely Pittsburgh would be offered a 1st rd pick for him. It is the very fickle nature of the position.

Yeah of course Jarry, Marino, Malkin and Rust carried the Pens when basically 1/5 of their lineup was injured

Dude, Stanley cups are insignificant… Would you give jeff carter a 1st rounder or how about jumbo Joe

You didn’t really say Stanley Cups are insignificant did you? That’s the whole reason they play. Murray outside of last seasons sweep has won 2 Cups in the last 4 seasons (completed), has a .921 save percentage in the playoffs. But that .899 is awfully nasty and comparing him to dudes that are 35 and 40 isn’t fair either. For what it is worth I wouldn’t trade a 1st for him.

The good part about GSAx is that your game amount doesn't matter.... nice try though...

You are comparing goalie values of a guy who hasn't played a full season to a guy with 4 seasons played. 1 has proved himself in the NHL, the other hasn't done anything. Wait for Georgiev to have a full season and see if the same thing happens to him..... Nice try though.......
