I don’t see Columbus accepting that’s trade. Has isn’t needed and we can get more for Anderson else where.

Neither the trade nor the contract are going to do it for Anderson. However, with the contract, i do agree that there could be a low $ 1 year bridge to show that the injury affects are gone.

Anderson is very Tom Wilson-esque, but Anderson is the better hockey player. Much better on the offensive side, nearly as physical, but does it without being stupid and taking bad penalties constantly. Basically a smarter Tom Wilson. Would you trade Tom Wilson for a nobody and around the 120th pick?

I don't get this assessment. Can you explain? Tom Wilson is averaging .64 PPG since his 2018-2019 season. That's better than Anderson. He hasn't had a bad hit, more or less, since the 2018 training camp. Tom Wilson doesn't take stupid penalties constantly anymore. You know who does? Evgeny Kuznetzov. Seems like you're assessing Wilson as if the last two seasons never happened.

Wow. all the way back to the 2018-2019 season? The whole 131 games? *whistles* That's what playing with Ovechkin does. That's what playing with Superstars does. Lemieux turned Rob Brown into a 115 point guy, then 4 years later he was in the minors. That's what playing with Superstars does. Anderson plays mostly with Boone Jenner.
Tom Wilson does still consistently take stupid penalties. Not as many as in the past, but he is still the worst at face-palm penalties on the team.

Are you directly comparing point production numbers of a guy that plays with Ovechkin and Backstrom to a guy that plays with Boone Jenner and Foligno? Have you ever watched Anderson play, or are you just looking at stats? But with stats, lets look at Wilson when not playing with a superstar (career before 18-19) and Anderson when not playing with a superstar (career): Wilson 0.266 vs Anderson 0.431. You can literally hear the house of cards fall...

Last year with the poor play and injuries I would give the bridge contract like I mentioned, but I hold that, given that they are a similar style of player, Anderson is the better hockey player. But again, he might be broken if his arm doesn't work right anymore.

What's with the "wow". I know we had a dust up in the past, but there's no reason to be a smart alec about my honest question.

He's definitely not the worst. Facepalm penalties, as in dumb lazy penalties, definitely not. That's Kuzy right there, and sometimes Kempny. I think that kind of play is mostly behind him. He's still the toughest guy we have on the team, aside from Ovi, and he has a reputation of being the fighter/enforcer, so can't expect him to never do it anymore.

So basically you think that Anderson, if paired with Ovi, would be scoring, what? 60+ points or something? Because Wilson is on pace for 50-55 points back to back seasons now. Tom Wilson isn't just another dude. There's many factors as to why he wasn't producing early in his career, and you ought to know them following the Caps. He never went to Hershey to develop, he was treated like an enforcer, given low minutes, etc. He's finally hit his stride now, and having more minutes and better teammates certainly helps.

How many points would Anderson have if he played a full season with Ovi and Backstrom do you think?
