No. He'll only have 6 years of NHL experience and be 26 years old when it expires (he just turned 25 in March). You don't qualify for UFA until 7 years of NHL experience or age 27.

Very similar to Reinhart's 2 year deal he signed last year. They're somewhat similar points wise. If it's one year I think 3.75-4 is reasonable.

I don't see why we would sign Domi to a 1 year deal. It's either going to be a bridge 2-4 year deal or it's going to be long term.

Domi/Danault/Suzuki should be the top 3 centers. There shouldn't really be a battle.

If Kotkaniemi or Poehling prove they belong there, then you move Domi to the wing.

I think a one year deal would piss Domi off. Doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.

Maybe the reason he struggled this year is because he knew it was a big contract year, I think he was trying to do too much or worrying about other things besides just playing his game.

Edit: in saying that, it would be perfect for the habs. Gives them time to decide what they want to do, but again that's like saying hey Domi if you dont play better this year you're not gonna get paid or we will trade you. I dont think that's good faith.
GMs liked this.
