I don’t think New Jersey would have any interest of trading away a top 20 pick for a guy like Kerfoot. Kerfoot is a average third line players. Is 5 on 5 numbers aren’t good, he isn’t a great faceoff guy New Jersey will select a much better players with Vancouver pick.

(1) You're trading away Holl in order to re-sign Ceci? THAT's against the grain.

(2) Johnsson doesn't get you Ristolainen, no matter how much half the world hates Risto.

(3) Kerfoot doesn't move you up 25 slots or more, as @Sebybbq says.

(4) Have you looked at Columbus' draft chart? No way they're trading away the 19th overall pick for Kapanen, let alone including Josh Anderson for a fourth.

Lmao that Columbus trade is awful! We aren’t give you a 1st and Anderson for a 3rd line RW we have no use for. Columbus has too many wings as it is... we don’t need to add another one.

If you want Anderson the price is a 2021 2nd. It can come as a trade or an offersheet. You can pick.

Man oh man all these Kapanen, Kerfoot, Johnsson trades on here are just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic, at some point one of the big 4 is gonna have to go to make this team any better and with Reilly and Andersen(or a starting goalie replacement) getting closer to needing raises it'll make moving one of them even more necessary.

If the Leafs re-sign Clifford they don't have their 2020 2nd rd pick.

Ristolainen for Johnsson would look better last off season. Johnsson had an ok year but blew out his knee. Ristolainen was better this year than normal...

CLB seems likely to move Anderson because they have depth on the wing, particularly RW. Doesn't make much sense to send them a RW.

Incorrect. Considering what's happening in the world it's impossible to know what's going to happen with the salary cap going forward, but based on where the league was heading before the shutdown there was no reason to think the Leafs could not be successful keeping the big 4 for the entirety of their contracts. If the salary cap had risen to $84M, then continued to rise over the next few year with expansion and a new US TV deal, Leafs would have little trouble with Andersen or Rielly raises.

One Kapanen for Weegar type trade would solidify their top 4, and plug their only glaring weakness.

They're a fairly young team still, they are still a few years away from TB/WAS/STL levels of not being able to get over the hump or wondering if the core needs to be blown up (that happened for years with all 3 of those teams when they would have great regular season success and nothing to show for it in the playoffs, two obviously have accomplished it eventually).

I might consider Kapanen for Anderson, but it's not really helpful. Throwing in the 1st? Go away.

Incorrect in your opinion but I don't see it, the Leafs already burned the first seasons of Sandin and Liljegren's ELC's which was Dubas' plan to buy some time with cheap talent on D but now they'll be looking for an increase a year earlier then planned and if one or both have breakout seasons(I think Sandin is going to) it's going to make the ongoing cap crunch even more difficult to deal with.

Even with slight increases to the salary cap it was gonna be tough to keep all four.

Gonna take more then just Weegar to plug that weakness.. Lol

Oh and I forgot Hyman is needing a raise right away too, where's the cap space for that? Trade Holl, Dermott or Campbell I guess, just keep rearranging those deck chairs till the cap increases by $10M one season....

As a anti-leafs fan, I would LOVE to see Tor get Galchenyuk and ristolainen...

So Sandin is improving enough that his next contract hurts. But a defence core of Rielly, Muzzin, Weegar, Dermott, Sandin and Holl is still a bottom dcore. So does our discussion shift to you thinkging Rielly, Muzzin or both suck?

In 21/22 cap was going to be $86M at the lowest. Top 6 forwards under contract (incl AJ and Kerfoot) $47.4. Muzz, Rielly, Holl, Sandin $13.5. Estimates Mikheyev $2M, Weegar (or equivalent) $3M. Total of approx. $66M

$6M on bottom 6 forwards (this includes the 2 extra fwds). $2M for bottom 2 defence. This equals $74M for 13 fwds, 7 def.

Leaving $12M for Hyman, Andersen and Campbell.

IMO even before my little math exercise here $6M was always the make or break on Andersen. Holtby contract will be the true barometer if goalie deals keep climbing, or the league sees the Bob and Price contracts are mistakes and $6/7M is the cap on goalie deals for foreseeable future.

Why... we have plenty of RWs... Bjorkstrand, Atkinson, Bremstrom are all solid top 9 wings and we have full 4th line with Nash, Robinson and Gerbe.... we really have no use for another depth RW like Kapanen unless you want to put Bremstrom on the 4th line and waste his offensive ability on a grinder line... I’d rather get draft picks Beck vs adding yet another RW to the roster.

You're pretty much describing exactly why I characterized it as "not really helpful".
