Hawks are trying to get out of cap hell, not dig themselves deeper. Hard pass.

The idea is definitely good, but Chicago is not a team that can afford this. The idea is there however. To be honest though, I rather get assets from a Jarry trade instead of just cap space.

Dallas declines. Value is fine, but they have more LD than they know what to do with. With Harley likely making the NHL jump this season, they have 6 LD either in the NHL or NHL ready. They also don't need another defensive forward. Between Faksa, Comeau, Cogliano, Dickinson, and Dellandrea there's no need for them to take on Bjugstad's cap hit. Honestly, they need to move a two-way forward or two instead of bringing more in. Add on to that how thin their RD position is, and it makes it incredibly difficult for Dallas to move one of their two NHL caliber RD (Johns) for a package that doesn't fill any of their needs.

Value is fair, but the fit just doesn't work for Dallas.

I think its idiotic for the penguins to trade either goalie. Orpik was suppose to be a flip player and his value is much much higher than JJ. He was coming off a SC victory and had way less term.

Detroit should totally grab a goalie worth protecting before the expansion draft.

Agreed. This is smart. Though it's probably a 3rd round pick coming back. Orpik had 1 more year on his contract (not like Johnson's 3) and Grubauer was way more established than Jarry.

I don't care how you flip this. That RW is aweful. Rust is the only top 6 RW there, and Tanev is the only other help he really has.
Hornqvist is too damn slow to play for this team and Sheary blows.

Hornqvist was 2nd on the team in EV Goals per 60 mins. I think he can stay. Slow or not.

And Sheary has shown great chemistry with Sid. Sheary and Simon can fight for that spot. They're there to support Sid and Guentzel, nothing more, nothing less.

support is something you will never get out of Sheary.
What that line needs is a Rust like player. Fast, Disruptive, fights for pucks will go to the boards and help do the dirty work.
You don't realize how badly you slow down that top line. The best way to stop crosby is to bup Hornqvist's slow self on that line and he's paid way to much to be a 3rd-4th line player.
The other way is make sure Jake and Sid have to do all the grunt work because a 5'8 guy is never going to get it done.
I'd so much rather they get THAT guy who takes that job off those two and puts them in open ice.
That is not Sheary. That's why they liked Simon there. He would atleast go get the puck. But he is useless offensively as he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with that weak shot.

I agree that Hornqvist can still provide 20 goals, but he's still injury prone, getting older and slower, and overpaid...those factors combine to make some want to get rid of him. Whether its a buyout or going to Seattle, he shouldn't be here past next year.

"And Sheary has shown great chemistry with Sid." That was still 2016-17--that's a long time ago...sheary has had one good year. I'm not opposed to bringing him back for a small deal(2x$2M), but it should be as a 3rd liner at best on the depth chart. Craig Smith from Nashville is the perfect fit for the team. He's a cross between Rust and Tanev. Fast, tenacious, good at winning puck battles, 20+ goals every year.
