Bennett was drafted 4th overall in the 2014 NHL Draft and was considered arguably the most talented all-around forward in the draft with impeccable vision up and down the ice and uncanny ability to create plays and make tape-to-tape passes with ease but for whatever reason has not put his game together with the Flames and needs a change of scenery to restart his hockey career.

I've actually been thinking about potentially adding Bennett as well. I wouldn't do it for Kerfoot, but if they could swing something based on a package of picks or rather just Johnsson as @Wqrrior suggested, I'd be up for it.

Bennett is a serviceable forward no doubt. I think there there is some upside there for sure.

Adding Bennett and expecting a mostly lateral move like that to "bring a cup" is another story altogether.

The D Core is still very suspect and that is where the upgrades need to be IMO. What you have here isn't good enough.

I think Clifford gets more than that as a UFA and the Leafs simply cannot afford to do that.
