Not really worth giving a 2nd. We have no need for Larsson because of the logjam on our left side while we're gonna need Brook soon. I don't know how the english equivalent but here in Montréal we say "quatre trente sous pour une piastre", which means it's unneccessary but not bad

So there's value, but no need? I understand.

Figured that adding Larsson would make sense if ANA took Kulak's contract, but then again considering that you have Chiarot, Mete and Romanov coming, Larsson is also going to be surplus D as well.

@SevenLeg I think it means something like four thirty under a piastre

This trade makes very little sense, Wouldn’t mind getting rid of Kulak but adding Brook and a 2nd doesn’t make it worth it. Habs have lots of options like Groulx and Larsson so this does nothing for them. Brook has the potential to be a solid RHD if developed properly and the habs would love to turn him into Perry’s replacement.

I disagree. He was probably the best D of Devils until his injury this year. Although the whole team of Devils sucked this year.

I think he's played well enough in the last few years to get a contract pretty much similar to his current one.

Just to note, Kulak would probly end up behind Djoos, Guhle, and Mahura on the depth chart.

Djoos maybe, not certain about the youngsters though.

Larsson takes Kulaks spot competing with Mete and Romanov for 2nd and 3rd pair LD
Groulx was so dominate this year and he's ready because his style is typical of a 4th line Center while capable of playing PP and PK at high levels due to his 200ft game , conditioning and speed

He's never going to be a top line Center but he could be a top 6 winger as he battles hard along the boards like Armia
That said i think he'll be what MTL needs in a bottom 6 Center this year more so then Weal that's for sure

Brooks not as close as everyone who doesnt follow AHL thinks
He'll need 1-2 more AHL seasons Minimum before even being a 7th D as he's all speed an offense and sucks defensively
Like Subban he needs time to mature and honestly by that time Fleury will have surpassed him.
(Harris plays RD on team USA and is used to adapting to avoid log jams ... he's about a year out from Pro)

I'm not saying this is bad. I'm just not willing to give what will probably be an early 2nd for a guy who will a struggle to get in the lineup and Groulx while we already have Evans for that role

Evans doesnt play the same game Groulx does

Evans plays a position based game focused on being a playmaker 180/200 ft of the ice then crowds the goalie for Deflections and Tip ins he practice's relentlessly as seen in his final Year recap of his Career as Captain of the Notre Dame NCAA team. As per Timmons last camp his Goal scoring ability is similar to Gallaghers aka blue collar goals

Groulx is a big bodied Goal Scorer who is as close to a sniper as you can get without actually being one.
His Forecheck is amazing and his compete level is very high having more of a Radulov type attitude to the game.

Honestly Together they could create a pretty Solid 2/3rds of a line with a Veteran like Byron guiding them or maybe Drouin if they play consistent
Point is you can never have enough young Goal Scorers especially when they score and play completely different but complimentary styles.

We could move on from some of our UFA's making a Profit in their final year of contract before moving on to youth keeping the cap low.
Meanwhile MTL will have a great youth base lead by Domi and Suzuki on offence while Romanov and Weber secure the back end and Price/Primeau take the crease.

With that group and the almost 20m we'd have by not signing our top line again but trading them we could sign a few big names.
Maybe go grab Taylor Hall or Offer sheet Sergachev since TBL's hands are tied at anything over 7m over 5 years (even getting someone to waive their NMC wont clear enough cap for all their players needs including Cirelli)
