Well that’s an easy no from Columbus.... Werenski isn’t worth trading for a 2nd line center and KK.... he will be and is better at his position then either of them will be. That trade might get you PLD, but not even close to wow enlightened for Werenski. Two of Romanov, Caufield and KK would need to be in the package to get the conversation started for Werenski. You could argue he’s the best player on the jackets... It’s Jones, Werenski and PLD all right there together and the rest of the team a ways behind them.

Wennberg(UFA July 2024)
Anderson (RFA)

For

Domi
2nd round pick in 2020

MTL Gets 2 mid twenties players who play different styles
Both are looking for a rebound year after bad season or seasons in Wennbergs case

CBJ gets a 2nd line Center who's scored 116 points in 152 games at Center with a 44% win rate in years 1 and 49% in year 2.
He'll slot in behind PLD giving CBJ depth and scoring . They dont have a spark plug quite like Domi and come playoffs i think they'll appreciate it
(Giving up 2 struggling players of which 1 of has asked for a Trade already makes this more reasonable )

for MTL they've helped a lot of players land on their feet
Petry,Byron, Radulov,Armia ,Danault, Chiarot ,Tatar,Domi and Kovalchuk as each one found success here after their draft teams lost faith or new teams moved them for Contract reasons

If Wennberg can rebound half as well as Danault its a worth gamble
Anderson i'm sure will have success on 2nd line with Suzuki and Drouin as he'll add the physical side and screening they need to create shots

Fair, was just having some fun. What’s your ideal off season with the Jackets? Status quo? Move a LD?

Move Murray, Anderson and Wennberg for picks and roster spots. Murray might get a 3rd, Anderson a 2nd and Wennberg a buyout or a low round pick.

Ideal, for me, involves getting a #2C without having to trade a top-pairing defenseman.

I also would prefer to see Andy bounce back rather than trade him for depressed market value. Never been a fan of selling low. wink

What makes you think that Montreal would trade Kotkaniemi for Werenski? Kotkaniemi is 19 hears old and have better stats at same age then a certain Leon Draistail who was drafted 3th overall, similar to Barkov. If a trade was to happen for Warenski that would be a one on one deal! Just like Seth Jones for Johanssen.
By the way Kotkaniemi had also better stats then him at same age. So don’t expect to get Kotkaniemi and Caufield or Romanov for Warenski it not realistic at all. That might be what you want for him but there no chance you get that from Montreal! Kotkaniemi have way to much value.

Exactly... Montreal would have to way overpay to pry Werenski from Columbus..... we don’t have the need or even want to move Werenski. It would take a massive overpayment to get Werenski. One so big that Columbus doesn’t even think about it, they just say yes.

Honestly KK should stay in Montreal and Werenski should stay in Columbus. So get of your high horse and be realistic, this team will never happen. Neither team wants to make it, but Montreal has more of a need for a LHD the Columbus has for a center, this Montreal is more desperate for this trade then Columbus would be.

Get of your high unicorn! You are the one the must be realistic, asking for 2 Top Nhl Prospect to start the discussion. Don’t put the blame on me. Yes KK will stay in Montreal and Werenski isn’t moving. And why Montreal would have more a need of Lhd then columbus have for center? To me both team have need that must be fill to make it to another level.

You’re right. Neither team needs to fill that position but a 2nd line center is easier to come by then a 1st pair LHD. So would Domi for Werenski and PLD be fair?

Then get one second line center if it’s that easy! Maybe you should make a post about it if you want to know if its fair. But personally ibthink it would be a waste of time

What point? That columbus centerline is complete trash! If that the case then yes, i agree. Montreal left side is trash just like Columbus centerline
