Description
Could Nils Lundkvist be a target for the leafs? And what would it cost to acquire him?

With Trouba, DeAngelo and Fox on the right side for the Rangers could Lundkvist be expendable.

Correct me if I'm wrong rangers fans, but there's no chance this happens. This isn't fair value for him, and they'd likely move Deangelo before they moved him

yeah, zero chance.

Would Rangers fans be interested in a Kapanen for Lundkvist swap or is Lundkvist just untouchable?

It’s not the worst proposal I’ve seen - Dermott is a known commodity whereas Nils hasn’t done anything at the pro level in North America. However, he’s probably rated as our second best prospect in the system right now and we aren’t in a position where we need to make a deal. We also have a ton of depth at LHD in the system also, so this is unlikely for those reasons, along with the issue of already having to protect Trouba, DeAngelo and Lindgren from Seattle.

nils set the record for u20 defensemen points in the SHL by like 6. There is no shot he is being traded outside of another amazing prospect or a superstar player

I wouldn’t say untouchable but I don’t think the organization sees Kapanen as someone who makes us more of a Cup contender in the next 5 years than we already are, or with the addition of Lundkvist and other potential trade options we have at our disposal. It’s also doubtful the Leafs pursue this trade as Nils is no sure thing to be NHL ready next season anyway and their window is now.

Sure if you deal both him and Kakko perhaps.

I wouldn’t do it. I would rather see where Lundkvist, Kravstov and Kakko are at 1-2 years from now and address deficiencies from positions of strength at that point, as I don’t see us as legitimate Cup contenders next season anyway. I think we get caught up in over analyzing 19 and 20 years olds and forget that McDavid is a generational talent. Most guys aren’t showing you what they’re really going to be until their 3-5th years pro.

i don't believe anyone is untouchable. there isn't a player in the league that is untouchable (EVEN EICHEL). everything is for sale for the right price.
however, Lundkvist is one of the top defensive prospects not in the NHL.
i don't see the Rangers moving him unless it is a massive overpay that the Leafs, or any team for that matter, would want any part of.

He isn't going anywhere. ADA is the most likely RHD trade candidate.

Nils Lundkvist, the best defensive prospect in Europe this season (Not even up for debate) for a 2nd and a depth D-man? Yeah, not lopsided at all.

Lundkvist is on the same level as Sandin.
Root liked this.

Yeah Lundkvist value is similar to Sandin if that makes sense. And replace Deangelo with Trouba.
