I guess it depends on your definition of overrated. Price had a GSAx of 38.88 in 2014-15, the season he largely built his reputation of best goalie in the world off of. The team was not good that year either, but he saved almost 39 more goals than an average goalie would have been expected to save.

Now compare that to the past three seasons of -11.04, 4.46, and -25.63 and hes probably been about almost 50 goals off of the season he had built his reputation off of on average. Keep in mind this is GSAx which takes into account the quality of shots he is facing. In 2017-18 Niemi put up a +14 GSAx in his time with MTL, compared to Price's -25, playing for the same team. There is no excuse for that, the stats clearly show Price was just plain awful that year.

Now with how big a reputation price has in the league and being the highest paid goalie, I think there is a strong arguement to be made that he is overrated, even if he is still a very good goalie.
