31 in 31 challenge Carolina

Created by: eddyed24

Initial Creation Date: May 12, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
31 agm for the 31 teams. 1 cbo per team.

IMO the only missing piece for Carolina to be considered a true cup contender would be to acquire a #1 goaltender. Lehner, Holtby, Markstrom as for now are all ufa and they could hit the market. In my agm I've sign Lehner since Carolina was interested in him before and with him possibly hitting the market they got the chance to get him.
I've trade Bean and Mrazek to San Jose for both of them 2nd round picks. I think Bean is nhl-ready but Carolina got so many defenseman one has to go. Plus it would infuse SJ with a good toung defenseman. I've add Mrazek for two reasons. 1. Cap relief in order to sign Lehner and 2. I think San Jose will either use their CBO on Jones or Vlasic. In either choice they need a goaltender so San Jose adds a young offensive defenseman and a goaltender. Carolina got enough defenseman, with Lehner and Reimer their goaltending situation would be set and they got enough depth with their forwards so that's why I'm putting picks only. Plus they need to be carefully not to spend too much in order to resign Svechnikov and Hamilton after next season.

Additional Details:
CBO. Too many defenseman in Carolina, they can try to trade him since he's still a nhl caliber defenseman at a reasonable cap hit but if can't find any partner (I would trade him for a 2nd round pick and maybe a prospect) apply to CBO on him.

This team could absolutely take it all. What's their biggest weakness? The 3rd dpair?...maybe.

Ew, ew, ew.

Mrazek has positive value, let alone ignore the fact it won't require the AHL's best defender

CBO Jake? Again, Ew. Over the last 20-ish games of the season, Gardiner looked like himself. When he's playing like that, he's worth keeping. If youw ant to get rid of a D man, DON'T BRING BACK TVR!

Also, Necas on the 3rd line? The dude was Carolina's 4th highest forward producer

You don't think Necas can score?

No they wont, Still much better teams out there. Boston, Tampa, Colorado Carolina is getting there. But saying they could take it all is pretty much premature.

What's the difference between the two teams below?

Team A - GF 227 GA 167 PP% 25.22% PK% 84.19% HDA 185 SV% .921
Team B - GF 217 GA 193 PP% 22.33% PK% 83.95% HDA 191 SV% .903

The slightly better powerplay can explain the 10 goals for difference, but the real difference is that horrible SV% delta. CAR's single biggest problem is in net, IMO. If they had a starting goalie they could be much closer to BOS...the best team in the NHL last year. They're much closer than people give them credit for. I can understand that additional scoring depth would be a plus, but it's not a requirement. Playoff hockey isn't about who can score the most in the regular season. Staal as a #3C is awesome. If they need to face BOS or EDM which only have 1 scoring line. Drop Nino down with Staal and they'll be fine. The real issue is having a team .903 SV%. That's unacceptable. This team sheds Mrazek..great move...and brings in their 1st #1 goalie since Ward was a #1 goalie.

Ive hesitate to put Necas on the 2nd he has the potential but I'll start the season with Nino and as rhe season go they could switch.
For Gardiner that's why I said I would trade him first (still a good defenseman and 4.05Mfor him to me it's still good value) but IF they can't find anything then use the cbo on him since Carolina don't got a massive contract. Some might said Staal but he's the leader and captain and his production is not only points.
