Qualifying offers for Athanasiou and Benning are $3,000,000 x 1 and $2,000,000 x 1 respectively. Neither is in a strong bargaining position, but its likely Athanasiou will opt for the UFA route rather than negotiate something less, and I imagine Benning might as well. In either case, the minimum offer will probably get only one year from both players. Bear doesn't have arbitration rights, and he's far less expensive to qualify, but $2,500,000 is not likely to get him for more than 2 seasons, at best. If Holland wants to lock him up longer, he may consider either 3 seasons, or no less than 6. 3 seasons would leave him an RFA with arbitration rights when his contract expired. Anything longer will take him straight into UFA status. Either way it will cost quite a bit more than $2,500,000 per for a young player who projects to continue playing in the top 4.
I think you may be overpaying Ennis by a bit, especially if you are offering 2 years. Griess is likely to get a better offer elsewhere, Toffoli may as well (rumors suggest Vancouver is very interested in extending his contract) . Galchenyuk's next contract is difficult to project, I think it really depends on whether other GMs have any interest in him. I think Guerin is trying to build a younger core of forwards and may want to keep this player around. Seems to me he's bound to get at least 3rd-line money, which will be more than $1,500,000 x 1.
