Quiet Offseason

Created by: OkBoomer
Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: May 14, 2020
Published: May 14, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Honestly, I don't think it's worth it to move too many pieces right now. We have a good farm team with some good prospects. Keep the cap space for next offseason. Small moves to maybe make the playoffs. However, moving on from Byron's contract would be good, even if it means taking on Staal's contract for a year.

What would need to be added? Prospect? Like Fonstad?

If we sign a goalie it will be on a 2 year deal simce we need to expose one goalie and he have to be under contract! But i agree that Bergevin won’t probably make any big move next offseason. I see him more likely to similar then the Armia, Mason deal where we use our cao space and get a assets back.

Byron we simply can't afford and chances are we do a Lias Andersson-Jesse Puljujarvi swap.

Honestly, that trade with EDM makes sense for both teams. However, i think Andersson and Puljujarvi said they might reconsider coming back to their teams.

Edmonton reject that. Pulju was a 4th OA pick that really was projected at 3, he's not being given up for a later pick from a weaker draft (I'm not saying that draft was weak, we got Necas in it, just that their value differentiates a LOT right now)

Edmonton isn't doing that. There's no chance. List your "Credible source" that says both teams are interested in doing it, rather not just simply saying "Both players aren't in a good spot with their teams"

You'd listen to credible sources, but he never said Edmonton was interested..... What are you going on about?

There was tracer fire? Edmonton deployed scouts to the SHL that watched him and actually liked what they saw. NYR could add picks too. it's obvious they have interest and considering both are high picks, who requested trades and haven't worked out in each respected systems need an exact change of scenery. I saw you guys being in there too. Tons of draft picks and have a ton of people to sign who knows if you guys have enough space to draft all of them and sign them. maybe a few picks for Puljujarvi who knows but I sure don't want Paul freaking Byron.
