Handshake Dependant Trades with CHI and NJD

Created by: Chapee44
Team: 2020-21 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: May 15, 2020
Published: May 15, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
At 10 overall my order of possible wishes would be: Raymond, Stutzle, Rossi, Askarov, Lundell.
If we drafted Askarov we could then make a decision with either him or UPL as to who we want to keep and who is the piece to go to market. The decision doesn't have to be made this year either. Hopefully we don't Toronto-Tuukka ourselves lol

throw in your 2020 4th and Devils accept. also you're not getting Stutzle or Raymond at 10, Lundell most likely.

Rossi and Raymond are small and we know how that goes. Ask DeBrincat... But I would be perfectly content with Lundell. Goalies are weird too, Askarov could be there.

This team investing another 1st round pick in a goalie (lehner trade) will be the straw that finally breaks the camel's back that is my being a fan.

Good lord

0% chance of Stutzle being available at number 10, Doubt Rossi will be either. Raymond could be 50/50 Lundell it's quite possible. Detroit could be the wild card Yzerman always drafts outside the box. So i could see him drafting Yaraslov Askarov if we get the #4 overall pick. Depending on what happens. We need a world class Goaltender and Askarov provides it.

Draft Perfetti. He's pretty good and might be available with 10th. Dunno really.

I think the rfa contract numbers are too low for strome, kahun and oloffson. If Strome would take only 3 per I think Chicago keeps him no doubt

2020 1st round pick (ARI) + 2020 1st round pick (VAN) >= Montour, Brandon [RFA Rights] + 2020 1st round pick (BUF) + 2020 4th round pick (BUF)
More or less Zacha for free.
Of course Buffalo would make this trade.

Strome, Dylan [RFA Rights] > Thompson, Tage [RFA Rights] + 2020 1st round pick (VAN) 17th overall
Määttä, Olli >=< Pilut, Lawrence [RFA Rights]
Of course Buffalo would make this trade.

Buffalo moves down 3 spots in the draft, gets a veteran LHD, a true #2 center and #3 center while giving up a good RHD and two unproven NHL players. This would make the Buffalo GM the front runner for GM of the year.

Chicago wouldn't agree to this. Tage hasn't showed much and is turning 23 in October. Hawks have too many 3rd line borderline 2nd line prospects, Pilut would get lost with Carlsson, Beaudin, Krys, Vlasic...no use for him. If it was the 17th pick and a good prospect or good role player different story but no thanks on the borderline AHL players.

I appreciate that. I was optimistic and on Kahun and Strome didn't buy any UFA years to keep cost down. I think a smaller contract is likely for Olofsson. He had one good season but it was marred by a lengthy injury. He'll get a bridge of sorts.

Pilut is our 2nd best lhd. He spent the year in rochester because our gm is absolutely awful- he rounded up 9 league average d, couldnt move them for what he thought he could, and blocked pilut who had the misfortune of being ahl eligible without needing to clear waivers. If i had to move pilut, samuelsson, of johnson (our recent late first/early second round lhd), pilut is not the first i would move.

Pilut spent a year in Rochester because he was not ready for the NHL. Any one who watched him play could see that he did not measure up to NHL caliber.
He was called up last year and did not perform up to standard. He did better this year, but still was at best our 3rd pairing.
Because he picked Buffalo over all other NHL teams after winning the Salming award is the ONLY reason I would not trade him.
While you may not want to move Pilut, both trades heavily favor the Sabres. Sure I may trade a defenseman other than Pilut but adding 2 centers, while giving up a RHD and moving down 3 spots in draft is too good to pass up.

Did I not say the same thing.
Both trades heavily favor the Sabres.
If offered they would be fools to pass up either one, especially both.

Mostly agree, i was more replying to the idea that pilut was some 24 year old scrub tweener, which i dont believe is at all the case.

I’m not sure I agree he’s a bonafide 2nd line player but even then the Hawks have a logjam on both d sides. On the left we can use a bonafide 1st liner to allow Keith to play on the 2nd line and of course we won’t get that plus the 17 pick so I’d say a better prospect would be in order that is higher reward but needs work.
