Slight overpay imo. Replace 2nd with Dermott.

Also, you could just add Dermott and some guys like Bracco and Brooks to the trade and add Zacha and a 3rd coming back

Idt Leafs move Kapanen for another Barrie type defensemen. Severson is of the same ilk.

Personally, I would not be surprised if the Leafs started the season with a top 6 composed of Rielly, Muzzin, Holl, Lehtonen, Dermott and Sandin.

NJ could move him as this UFA market coming up will be full of defenseman and with all that cap room they can grab 1 or 2 potentials (Hamonic, Brodie, Barrie, etc).

I would say a fair deal would be (Kapenan + Der-Arguchintsev + Howell+4th) for him as the marlies have a tonne of defenseman and can afford to move one

He's definitely not a defensive defenseman. Plus, he's NJ top defenseman. There is zero motivation to move him unless the Leafs overpay. Also, a lot of people are doing retained salary on Severson trades. The devils are not going to retain salary on a 25 year old top 4 defenseman making only 4 million, doesn't make sense.

He is really good in his own end

They have Palmeiri and Gusev as RW, and overpaying vet UFAs just to finish near the bottom of the league doesn't seem like a great strategy.

I'd rather keep Kapanen and dermott (Severson coming in means Dermott is gone). Just my opinion.
