Nylander

No can do. When Nylander's name comes up it usually means Pesce, or better. I kind of get the idea DeAngelo is going to shipped off and this seems like a suitable package to me. Think about it:

When you guys become true contenders you'll have:

-A 50-60 pt guy in Kapanen
-A solid top-4 or maybe even top pairing LHD in Dermott
-A pick that could be something good
-A 40-50 pt 3C
-A young-gun who will likely be a 3C or 4C. Seems pretty good to me.

Sure its seem good to you you just boosted up all of the Toronto in that deal. Actually none of them have been closento what you project them. Its literally a fantasy thta Kapanen will become a 50-60 point guys or Dermott become a top pairing defenseman. He wasn’t even a top 4 guy this year. You must be realistic about your players. Kerfoot have been a 30 point players. Is 40 point season he saw firstnunit powerplay in Colorado. Never had more then 30 point at 5 on 5 and won’t see any powerplay icetime in New York either so he won’t become suddenly a 50 point 5 on 5 third line center. You must temper you comment dude.

Quality > Quantity

Kapanen is a decent starting point, but realistically it takes either Nylander or Kapanen+Robertson or Sandin. DeAngelo was tied for 4th league-wide in pts by a Dman (T-3rd in even strength points) while carrying around the corpse of Marc Staal for 20 mins a game. And he's still just 24.

Well Dermott is 22 and Kapanen is 23 so it's not hard to see where those numbers come from.

Dermott is a fringe top-4 guy, and has been improving lots over the last few years. Next year he will likely be a 2nd pairing defense men for whatever team he plays for. He still has 5-7 years to grow, and it is not that hard to believe he can be a fringe top-pairing defensemen if he fits his partners play style.

Kapanen was on track for over 50 pts the first half of this year when he was getting more time in the top-6. After the injuries wore off, he was moved back to the 3rd line where he ended the season on track for 43 pts. Given well known aging charts, he will likely beat 50 pts even playing on the 3rd line. It isn't hard to believe that he could be a 60 pt player if he is in the top 6. He is also an extremely good 2-way player who plays big PK minutes. Not saying the value isn't bad for the Rangers on this trade, just saying you're statement isn't true.

What in my statement wasn’t true! You arenthe one who had made thing up dude. You made unrealistic projection. You must temper your statement that simple.
If you look at it this way the Rangers can claim that Deangelo is only 24 and can become a 90 point defenseman. He have been improving each year and have unlimited ceiling.

"Temper" my statement?

But I literally just explained why Kapanen and Dermott have the potential to be as good as I say they can be.

Oh my god listen to me. I said that although the trade may not be fair, my statements on what Kapanen and Dermott can become aren't.

Any statement you made can be said for 75% of nhl players under 25. Optimism isn't a selling point

I listen my friend it is just that your projection for those 2 player are unrealistic. Kapanen was use mostly with Matthews last year and he finished with 44 point so its not like he never had a chance to prove himself on a top line. He is a good player but probably more a 45 to 55 point range maximum. Let alone say that he benefits playing for a top offensive team, he doesn’t have the pressure to be the primary scoring option. As for Dermott, he is still young but every scout, Gm, Coach’s and hockey specialists would tell you that he have limited ceiling. If he become a reliable top 4 that would already be a good thing. Becoming a first pair defenseman is just completely unrealistic. He was bad on a third pair this year, is advanced stats are not good and he have linited offensive upside. Nylander is a 60 point players and the difference between him and Kapanen is pretty obvious. Just can see him closing the gap to become this type of players.

No. What I was saying is that although the value may be off for the trade I was proposing, it doesn't mean that what I said about Kapanen and Dermott's potential was off.

I UNDERSTAND THE TRADE ISN'T FAIR AS IS

As you can see Deangelo is extremely over valued. The guy had almost 56% ozone starts and still managed to have a less than 50% corsi.

That’s not true. Very easily replaceable. The rangers wouldn’t miss him if he was gone. They have fox and troubadour for the pp. lundvist coming up. The team wouldn’t skip a beat.

Probably not true. He most likely won’t be traded but his return isn’t what most hope for on this site. More value in re-signing him than trading him.

Arizona did it with the devils for hall. So anything is possible. Dallas robed Boston of Taylor seguin as well.

A lot of ranger fans overvalue their players because the team does a good job selling the hype.
