Except the Wild don't need wingers and if they really want to get rid of Dubnyk, they buy him out or bury him in the minors and eat the year of dead cap. He's not a problem really, they just need to find a goalie to replace him.

Wild aren't going to want 3 years of Panik vs. One more year of Dubnyk.

Would MIN take it Caps added a prospect and a pick? Say, Johansen plus 3rd?

I think that would make it worth it. Since Wild should be able to waive him and sit Panek in the AHL if they need the NHL roster spot. His contract is relatively low cost so the ultimate buyout in a year or two if needed shouldn't be terrible and if nothing else he would be a decent depth guy.
One of the other guys will probably see this and say differently though cause I might be missing a good reason not to do it.

The 50 man roster and the salary cap.
Wild already have Rask eating up a roster spot and not a small amount of cap. Adding more bad cap and using up another roster spot limits what can be done for the team.

Not to concerned about the 50 man roster Wild have a couple AHL contracts expiring that really don't need to be retained.
As far as the cap you could bury Panek in the AHL and it would be a cheaper option than burying Dubnyk in year one anyway. If Panek doesn't have anything left then if Wild could buy him out of the last year of his contract. He is a relatively cheap buyout.
Really is a risk reward kinda deal if the scouts are hot for Johansen then I think Guerin would do it, if the scouts see him as a lost cause you pass on the deal.

Yes MN has some expiring contracts they can drop, but they also will have a new draft class to sign along with the some of the players on the reserve list that need to be signed. Dub's contract shouldn't be much of a burden since MN has the cap space and it's only for one season. There have been a few waiver claims that MN should have made but couldn't because they were at the roster limit in the recent past. It also limits what can be done for a quantity for quality trade.

The last thing MN needs is another bottom-6 wing with term. They would be better off just putting Dub though waivers, someone might claim him.

There’s no guarantee he’s the replacement for Dubnyk. He was great in the AHL, decent in the NHL in the limited games he played. Who knows, Hunter Jones may end up being their long term solution in a few years.

Filip Lindberg had a good year in the NCAA as well.
