Dont think OTT is looking to move their young prospects and that is WAY to much to pay for Formenton. RFA signings are way off. UFA signings make us worse (except maybe Tanev but hes too expensive).

In what way are the RFA signings way off? Soup had a weird season and got badly hurt we don’t even know if he will be the same player when he comes back. Dermott had a disappointing season

Well just to start your paying Bogosian 1.5m and he only played 27 games last year... Would rather pay Soup and Dermott and give them more term then sign then sign him (or Simmons). In what way was Dermott disappointing? He seemed pretty solid to me. Soups injury my be a concern but im sure they have lots of tests for strength and range of motion they can do before they sign him.

Dermotts corsi for, fenwick for, expected goals for and points all down and expected goals against went up. He did not take the step forward as expected. Soup can’t really demand much even if he passes all the test he has such a small sample size

To bad there wasn't some factor we could point to that may have affected Dermott's season. Just a complete mystery.

You mean like just coming off of surgery? And not having a concrete partner who complimented him? And changing coaches mid season? Something like that? If only we had those underlying concerns, maybe we could understand his minor step backwards ... /sarcasm

I am not saying that’s not true and there is no reason for it. I am saying he had a disappointing season and because of that along with other factors such as not having arb rights his contract should be a lower AAV. He is a good player with lots of potential BUT having a disappointing contract year (no matter the reasons) means you should/will get a lower AAV on a contract. This is also compounded by the stoppage and the cap issues that come along with that

Agree with majority of this, but that makes it highly unlikely dermott takes 2 years at that discount rate, i also still don't see him taking less than $1.5M, but who knows what the new NHL looks like next season.
