That’s a good trade, EDM should accept

I would prefer Johnsson to be traded cause the Leafs really might need Kerfoot at centre, but lineup looks about right. Gee still some possible cap room to make further adjustments.

Edmonton would accept, but Toronto should never do it. Although Kerfoot is having a down year, his role at 3C is important, and Engvall is just not good enough to play there. Engvall is a great up and down winger who can fill basically any role, but he cannot be a dependant third-line centre against any decent team.

What do you think of Dermott extension?

Same here but Kerfoot does make the most of the 3 (Kerfoot, Kapanen and Johnsson) and so trading him gives more cap space.

Initially I thought the Dermott contract was low but I think of comparable players to him and what's suggested here makes sense.

I would trade Nylander and pay Dermott, Mikheyev, etc...
You might be able to get a 1st round pick.

No thanks. Maybe trade Marner but it must be the right trade.

Why?

Because Nylander is under term longer than Marner and he is cheaper too. This matters for a team that is constantly flirting with the high limit of the cap.

It is a good reason. It's all in a matter how you view it.

It's a good trade but I think your other trade of Johnsson for puli and a 3rd make more sense for both teams. Sorry, I fell asleep last night but I'll get to your other proposal after work.

Edmonton has zero interest in Johnsson. That suggestion doesn't make sense for both teams.

Why not? Edmonton needs wingers more than a third-line center and puli ain't playing for Edmonton so him and a 3rd for Johnsson who is similar to AA with a better offensive touch seems like a fair deal to me. Why don't you like that deal?

Johnsson doesn't have a better offensive touch. He literally score 3 goals at 5v5 this year even though he spent 75% of his time with a superstar center. Athanasiou spent most of his time with Filppula.

Because he was injured multiple times and wasn't 100%

If that was the case, why was he getting prime icetime? He sat out the games he was injured.

Yeah there's a whole 50 bucks left over for un-buttered popcorn and a dented can of stale-dated PC-cola - yikes!

He got prime ice time because of his speed, and he did play injured twice before he was shut down

Wrong, at the Maple Gardens, no the Air Canada Centre, no the Scotia Bank Centre, fifty bucks doesn't even get you a bag of unbuttered popcorn.

This doesn't excuse 43 games of below replacement level play.
