I think Columbus wants to keep Jenner. Also, who gets taken in the expansion draft?

i didnt really think about the expansion draft, i dont really know much about CBJ. i think Seattle is gonna take one of them: Korpisalo, Savard, Murray or Josh Anderson if he doesn't have a rebound year

Well... where to start... about why does Columbus make half these moves and you’re cap is way to high try closer to 84-85, not 88.5.

-Wennberg will be gone by this point, he’s not playing well and we have others better for a 3rd line center at cheaper rates.

- Anderson will be gone by this point, he seems to not want to play in Columbus anymore and wants a top 6 role, and he won’t get that in Columbus.

-Murray is just pointless to sign, let him walk.

-Gustfsson is pointless to sign with Gavrikov and Nuttivaara and Peeke.

-the LA trade is a waste for Columbus. We don’t need Roy with Peeke. Kukan is a sold 3rd pair guy.

-Pittsburgh Trade is probably the worst trade. Nyquist is a top 6 forward and we trade him for a 4th liner we have plenty of..

-I do like the Gusev signing. That being said I doubt he signs in Columbus, he will get better offers else where.

-last note is your lines are crazy messed up, why is Texier on the 4th line, he’s a top 6 wing and Wennberg on the 2nd line is gross, and please put the defenseman on the correct sides.

Murray is the most likely. Anderson will likely be gone and Merzlinkins is exempt so Korpisalo will be protected.

I do follow the team. That being said it isn’t terrible, just a few notes about the team that can help if you chose to do another CBJ post.

Columbus should really be looking to rebuild, or at least retool. They have a solid foundation to build on, including a 21 year old No.1 C and a deep group of young defenseman to build around, starting with Werenski (22).

Jones would be great to resign, but to do so you need to show him that this team can be set up to compete from 2022 onwards. Treading water until then isn't going to entice him to stay. Commit to the rebuild/retool, and if Jones doesn't want to be part of it then trade him for the best return you can get.

In the short term I'd look to get the best possible (close to NHL ready) futures returns on pending UFA's Josh Anderson, Murray, and Savard. They can probably squeeze a 1st for Savard, and like 2-3 2nd's and a couple of prospects for Anderson/Murray.

To build on that, here's an AGM I just made to show what going all-in on a rebuild would look like for Columbus: https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1737339

The Pens trade is interesting. After this season, I grew to like Tanev. Nyquist puts up better numbers than Tanev. I'm not sure that is the gain you're looking for because you'd only save 500k on the cap and be getting less point production out of the deal. Would definitely consider it for the Pens...
