A hardworking playmaker with good vision and passing like Granlund could be a perfect fit on a line with shooters like Burakovsky and Kadri. He would also provide an option at 3C if we wanted to put Compher back on the wing.

Coming off an underwhelming season where he's paced 21 goals and 37 points he should be available at a reasonable cap hit. That said, Colorado will be keen to not have any (potentially) bad contracts in 2023 when Mackinnon and Byram need to be resigned, so ideally Granlund would be signed for 3 years.

A 3 year deal would make Granlund an UFA again at 31, at which point he could get a final payday after 3 good years on a contender. Granlund is 28 and in 3 years he would be 31, the same age that Zuccarello got $6mx5.
