I don't hate the Oilers, its just that RNH has a year left on his deal before a big raise, Nurse is a UFA in a couple of years and Broberg is 100% his replacement and that Andreas really isn;t what the Oilers need. So Turris is the new veteran 3C, Jankrok is the always needed 1 LW at cheap value and Ellis is what Oilers need

Turris is a massive, massive cap dump. I'd trade for him only if Neal is going the other way, and even then I might ask for retention / a pick or something, as Turris has an extra year on his deal. He's a huge negative. You're giving up 4 positive assets (2 top-6 forwards + a 1st pairing D + a 1st round pick) for one of the worst contracts in the league, a 1st pairing D and a 3rd liner. So again I ask, why do you hate the Oilers?

The Oilers should be signing all of RNH, AA and Nurse when their contracts are due not trading them for this strange package.

Regarding the Oilers players
- RNH likely doesn't get a "big" raise, it's generally thought that it'll be around $1.0 - $1.5M. He also doesn't have to be protected from the Seattle draft due to being a UFA next summer.
- Nurse is a UFA in 2 years, that gives the Oilers plenty of time to negotiate an extension. Also plenty of time to see what they have in their prospect pool; if they like what they see they can trade Nurse at any time.
- Broberg is still only 18, he'll be 20 when Nurse plays his final game of his 2 year deal and probably not ready to take on 1st pairing minutes. That's not a slight on him, Dahlin played a very, very sheltered 3rd pairing role this season as a 19 year old, he won't be getting 1st pairing comp next year either.
- Holland drafted Athanasiou, Holland signed Athanasiou, Holland developed Athanasiou, Holland re-signed Athanasiou, Holland traded for Athanasiou. LOL at your take that after 9 games in Edmonton Holland will suddenly change his mind about the player. Ridiculous.
- Holland values the 1st very highly, he refused to include it on a potential Hall deal with New Jersey last December.

You should make your own judgment. This is a really, really 1-sided trade.

As a preds fan I think this is horrible for the oilers. The only upgrade the oilers get is Ellis and a cheap good all around guy like jarnkrok. The preds get rnh a upgrade for turris and dumps Turris which is the a plus even though I’m on the side who thinks turris still has some good years left. A young defensive defenseman that would be a good partner for josi And the proposal has the oilers giving a 1st, that’s insane.

I agree with this. Value wise, great trade for the Preds. The problem for me is how much it weakens the RD spot, even though Ekholm or Nurse could play the other side. There's probably cap space to sign someone in the $3-4M range, but I personally wouldn't make this trade.
